The stud fee should be the same price as (pick of the litter) should be--some stud owners will take first pick of the pups instead of a stud fee!!

The price of stud service is usually the equivalent of the price of a puppy.

The owner of any kind of reputable stud is going to ensure that your female has been x-rayed and certified free of hip and elbow dysplasia, has had her heart and eye checks done, as well as a brucellosis test, before even considering allowing their male to be used.

Anyone who doesn't require the health checks to be done, has a pet quality dog and shouldn't be creating any more unwanted puppies. Leave the breeding to those with the best dogs and who know what they're doing - breeding to improve the breed!

Just because your dog is AKC registered doesn't mean she should be bred.

German Shepherds are very prone to hip dysplsaia and other problems. Before even considering breeding you need to get health testing done (OFA/PennHip on hips, CERF/PRA on eyes, thyroid, etc), you need to have your dog temperament tested, the pedigree needs to be thoroughly researched for health, temperament and longevity, she needs to be shown or evalauted to see if she meets breed standard and she needs to be at least 2 years old.

As far as stud service is concerned it depends on the stud owner. You will need to read the contract (yes there MUST be a contract, no contract in writing no breeding) carefully and you need to understand it completely before signing. You will need to provide a copy of at least a 4 generation pedigree and copies of the OFA/PennHip tests, thyroid, CERF/PRA etc to the stud owner.
You also need to learn everything you can about all the risks involved with breeding & whelping and newborn care. You need to know what to look for and what to do if an emergency arises. You also need to be prepared for an emergency c-section and emergency pup care including getting up every hour to hour and a half around the clock for at least 2 weeks if there are weak pups, mom has low/no milk or toxic milk.
Breeding is a BIG responsability.

often the owner of the stud gets the two %. of the muddle, or a stud value. i'd often sidestep giving them the %. of the muddle, basically via fact it confuses issues, and leaves element of the settlement unfulfilled at cutting-edge. often you pay the owner of the stud on the time of the breeding. some proprietors will enable a breed -back in the journey that your lady would not take. the female often maintains to be with the male, yet you additionally can seem into synthetic insemination, so your lady would not would desire to be removed from domicile different than to certainly be inseminated. i'd definately request a written settlement, whether they do no longer generally use one. maximum to blame breeders will however. i'd the two seem on line, or the plenty greater efficient decision, given which you're in contact in exhibiting, ask for references from human beings you comprehend or seek advice from others on the shows. i would not run an advert interior the paper, you by no potential comprehend what your ending up with. so some distance as value, that thoroughly relies upon on the stud. i visit be paying just about $1200 to reproduce my lady, yet it fairly is to a worldwide classification stud. Plus, maximum stud proprietors require a wellbeing certificates out of your vet and a brucellosis try. in case you artificially inseminate, you would be able to desire to pay to have that carried out in case you do no longer comprehend how. (And having them surgically inseminated has a greater efficient threat of theory besides). besides, it fairly is all i will think of of appropriate now. another element is however, you will desire to have you ever lady CERF examined. (tests for genetic eye ailments, alongside with collie eye anomaly, which i'm surprisingly specific Shelties are at intense danger for). A thyroid try is robust too.

The price for studding is one of two ways. They get their pick of the litter. Or you give them the price that they are sold for. You can ask them what they want....their pick of the litter or the money.
