My Golden ignores my shih tzu. My golden is 10 years old and my shih tzu is 9 weeks old. How do I get my golden to stop ignoring my shih tzu?

Ignoring is not a bad thing. In fact, it means your Golden does not see your Shih Tzu as a threat! As time goes on they may warm up to one another, but for now I really wouldn't mess with it; it's a lot better than having your golden be violent and aggresive.

Let the Golden know that he is still #1 dog. It's natural for an older dog to be jealous of a newcomer to the family. Goldens are normally sweet, gentle dogs and, given time, I'm sure your Golden will except the Shih Tzu. The Shih Tzu will have to learn from the Golden that the Golden is boss. :)

Give your Golden Retreiver lots of attention as you play with the puppy. He is probably feeling pretty lonely now that the new pup has arrived. He'll most likely bond with the pup as the pup ages and gets a little bigger.
