I have a 90 pound German Shorthair that sneeks some butter now and then. Nothing usually happens, althought he may get the runs a little later.

He is a fairly big dog so the only thing it may do is cause a catartic reaction. [loose stools] Just make sure to get him outside as soon as he wants to prevent accidents on your floor.

He should be fine I have never known butter to harm dogs.

Yes.
It is totally ok for your dog to eat butter.
I would keep him away from grapes, raisins, chocolate, cooked chicken bones (too splintery for their throat), and fruits. Anything that has sugar in it is bad for your dog pretty much.

he just got a super fatty treat, but he'll be fine. just remember that this dog is tall and all counters should be empty...unless you want him to steal a steak when you go to get the phone during dinner!
