My 2-yr old Italian Greyhound just recently started marking inside the house. He is neutered(since 3 months old) and there is nothing new going on in our lives. He is particularly partial to marking on shopping bags and my son's toys, but not limited to those items as he has also marked an armchair once that is not new either. I am at wit's end about it. Since it is cold here, he has not wanted to go very much and is not getting nearly the exercise that he does in fair weather, but nothing has changed since last Winter and he didn't mark then. Any suggestions?

There could be three reasons: 1) I't colder outside this year than last year, and yes, the lack of exercise could be a point too. 2) Could he have a kidney/urinary tract infection? 3) Has he been getting the same amount of attention as before-as always? Greyhoud dogs are so gentle in idposition, and so beautiful. Please take him to the vet about the possible infection. And, while there, ask about the marking, as to what else could be going on-and how to handle it. Take care.

catch him doing it, shove his nose where he did it, hit him with a newspaper, than put him outside.
