No, atleast not in the sense that humans do. Dogs certainly keep their eyes moist and sometimes the liquid "overflows" and may look like tears. But they dont cry as an outlet for emotion.

Oh yes. A full grown dog can understand quite a bit more than you might think. Some breeds can have the intellegents of a 5 year old kid, so watch out. Dogs, moarn, cry, laugh, love. They are sneaky, naughty, snuggly, grumpy, adorable! Everything we are.

I...nor anyone else's opinion on here can tell you for sure...

but I would swear that I have seen my female malamute cry before.

She has held her head low and moped over to me, rested her head on the side of my leg...didn't look at me, but just sat there and I saw big drops of water in her eyes. Made me check out her eyes for some kind of infection or irritation, but nothing. I kept checking after that...nothing.

I've witnessed this a few times in the last 6 years.

my male...he's happy go lucky, he's happy go sad...he's just always happy...annoyingly so sometimes.

Like us... No dogs can't only primates and humans.. But it's not as if they don't feel what we do.. see what we do.. They know the feeling of pain. They sense what we feel. Even if they can't express it dogs get depressed, sad, angry, happy... everything we do. Dogs have emotions that we can't understand and maybe never will but emotions they do have and always will have.

They absolutelt do cry. You should see one of my chi mamas cry when their babies leave home. They have the biggest tears in their eyes and look so sad for a few days.

I think when they are whining it's their way of crying. I don't think they shed actual tears when they are crying like humans do, though. You can tell on their faces when they are sad.

If you mean like humans that are sad...no.

dogs do have tear ducts though to help clear and lubricate their eyes.
