You wanted a family pet........A guard dog.........A substitue child....
A status symbol...........A friend to stop being lonely etc....

I ask this because I wanted an Akita so that it could be a family pet that has guarding abilities. I also wanted it to help me to exercise everyday. I love my dog and give him everything he needs. Exercise....Discipline......Affection.... He has given me more than I could ever give him. He has filled all my expectations and more.........Why did you get your dog? What were your motives?
Has your dog fullfilled your desires? Are you fullfilling his/hers?
PLEASE LIST THE BREED.

Hi, my two year old Great Dane/Shepherd mix is shuttering. He sleeps, eats and plays like normal, he just starts shuttering once in a while. I explained it to the vet like "when you get a sharp pain and tense up" that's what it's like... he does this about every ten seconds, but not all the time. He has an appt on Thursday for the vet, but I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced this with their dog?
Thanks!

I have a new puppy and he is 6 weeks old. I am thinking enrolling in a training class at PetSmart but I don't know if I should start right away or wait until he is a little older.

I have a 5 mo. old Lab/pit mix. She is very well trained except when I take her for walks. Even when I try to tire her out she insists on pulling. When she sees other people she'll pull so hard that she's standing on her hind legs. She is never agressive towards other people or pets. She just wants to play.

my dog has a skin irritation (theres yeast present) and she is on antibiotics and has to be bathed every 5 days with a special shampoo. My vet said try a different dog food but he didn't want to prescribe anything yet. we're doing meds first, but I do want to change her food. she's eating Beneful for mature dogs now but that may be one of the causes. can anyone recommend a good dry dog food.

We were gone for approx. 2 hours. When we returned our dog was completely freaked out. She kept demanding that we go downstairs and then go into each room as if we needed to check them for something. Then she was very sensitive to any noise for the rest of the night. The next morning when I went into my sons room she freaked at me, growled and showed her teeth. As if she was completely terrified. She has NEVER done anything like this. She is not a whining dog nor a aggressive dog. What could have happened in those 2 hours alone?

you should know is that my dog is not agressive. She never acts agressive towards strangers, and it is perfectly to hug her. However, she has a problem with food. She acts agressive when she is eating something she isn't supposed to and you try to take it away.
Well my mom lets her get away with EVERYTHING. She never corrects my dog, and always babies her. One day my dog was licking the dishes and i tried to correct her by a tug and the collar and a firm "NO!". However, my dog would not accept this and she growled me and bit me on the hand. Not a hard bite, but still a bite. When i tried to scold her, my mom instead scolded ME. She said i shouldnt have been messing with the dog. this is completely ridiculous. This dog is spoiled rotten and thinks she is dominant and i think it is unacceptable for a dog to bite at any time.

being the youngest in my family, my dog thinks she is more dominant than me. How can i teach both my mom and my dog that this is not ok?

I have a male Malti Poo pup who is driving us crazy!! He won't stop humping everybody.. Mostly the kids or their friends that come by. I know,, I should go get him fixed , right? I'm sure thats what everyone is going to tell me. But other than that, is there any remedy to stop him? Everytime he starts doing it, when I call his name he stops right away, but as soon as I turn by back, hes right at it again. And its weird, he does it about everyother day. Somedays he won;'t do it at all. Why is that?? By the way, hes 10 months old. Its gross but kind of funny, he has this pillow type bear and thats what he does it on if its not the kids!! He doesn't touch anyother stuffed animal, just that bear!! I guess because its about the same size as him!! And please, no smart answers from anybody! Go bother someone else with the ignorant answers. Its actually not funny at all !! It drives us crazy.. I don't plan on breeding him. so should I just break down and have him fixed??

About 15 stray dogs in the early morning in Bangalore,South India killed a 9 year old girl. She was a passer by and the dogs after mulching raw meat waste near a mutton stall, attacked the girl and tore her into pieces.
What is the solution to get rid of the stray dogs existing which are now all neutered and spayed?

Do they just think "I want, I want. I want" ? Or perhaps they only look as far as the end of their nose..."oh, I'll find them good homes." Do they not consider most of those pups will have pups? It will just keep escalating. Fact: 1 dog in 10 gets a permanent home. Fact: millions of dogs are killed EVERY YEAR because to many are born. Those of you that insist on breeding a pet, please explain to me WHY this issue is not important to you. Can you do that?

Well, my fiance and I are buying a house in March. Seeing as how we're young and can't afford a big house (it's just gonna be a little subdivision house, and we're waiting for it to be built) we can't get a big dog...even though I love them. My two favorite breeds are Golden Retrievers and Siberian Huskeys.

I saw (I think it was on Growing up Gotti or something)...a little brown dog w/ long hair that resembled a golden retriever, except smaller. I also like Mischa Barton's dog.

Any suggestions???

I just need to find something a bit smaller. Thanks!

My family has a 6 month old Chihuahua. The breeder we got her from called yesterday and wanted to know how she was doing.

He told us that we should consider spaying her, if we do not plan on breeding her. He said she will enter "heat" soon and will act very strange.

He said that she will become more aggressive and will try to escape our home and backyard so she can find a mate. He also mentioned some pertty scary stuff...

Is this true? Will she try to run away?

What are the effects of heat in a female Chihuahua pup?

Thanks

She's 6 month old and she's going to be spayed really soon. Anyway, some people think it's healthier to let her go through her first cycle or even have a litter and then have her spayed. Any opinions?

Microflora in the gut consists of many types of bacteria Lactobacillus sp., Streptococcus sp. etc. These favourable bacteria are responsible for effective utilising of feed and better performance as they are helpful in maintaining the gut pH, producing digestive enzymes and exclusion of pathogens. Probiotics (favourable bacteria) help to establish and restore the normal gut microflora and may get antibiotics etc and in disorders like gastritis, enteritis, gastroenteritis and indigestion. Understanding the need we introduce one more new offspring PROVILACC™.

PROVILACC™ which is a blend of

Live Yeast Culture saccharomyces cereviasiae
Probiotics which are
Lactobacilus sporogens
Lactobacillus acidophilus
Streptococcus faecium

Yeast culture helps in the better utilization of Calcium and phosphorus and helps to improve the
breeding efficiency of the dogs. Probiotics aids in balancing the gut micro flora.
