Does the stool have mucus in it? Or a very foul smell? If so it could be a parasite called coccidia. Coccidia can be transmitted from dog to dog through bodily fluids or from a dirty water source. It is very serious and can cause dehydration that can result in death. Please take him to the vet. No matter what it is bloody stool is not a good sign. In the mean time try to keep him dehydrated with some baby pedialyte every hour and maybe try some plain unflavored yogurt to coat his stomach from the acids. Good Luck!

Blood in the stool is a sign of something serious going on. It' very dangerous! She can't afford to lose anymore blood. She's needs to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. The vet is the only one that can help her. Please, don't wait to take her in.

Has your dog had all of his vaccinations.?
Have you feed you dog any pork products?
Gotten into the trash?
Stress?
There are a number of things that can cause dirrhea. If you have blood in the stool you need to take your vet as soon as possible. Your vet can do a fecal to see if it's worms. If you haven't had your dog vaccinated your vet may want to run a parvo test.
Bottom line CALL YOUR VET TO GET IN TO SEE THEM!

Man you people should not give advice if you dont know what the hell you are talking about. If it is a girl it DOES NOT mean that she is going into "period" -- I think she means heat. The blood comes from the vulva. Blood in the stool means vet a.s.a.p. because there is something wrong.

I had a past experience with my dog and yes it is dangerous. He had caught some sort of virus which had to be treated by antibiotics by the vetenarian. The best I would say would be to get him checked otherwise I dont know what the long term effects can be if not treated.

Call vet at once, dog has cuts in the intestine may have eaten bones that punctured. Keep her safe and check it out at once.
Dont give worm medication to a dog without having feces checked.
Female dogs go into heat and bleed vaginally.
Call the vet first.

I work at a vets office.
1. There could be several reasons for this. If you have been feeding him a new type of food, it might not be agreeing with his system. Stop what you are feeding him that is new and try something else.
2. Your dog might have worms.
3. He/She could have internal problems.

Yes its usually a parasite dogs tend to get by either being purchased from a Puppy Mill or being around other infected dogs, easily cured by 14 days of antiobiodics. Get him/her to the vet immediately for testing to determine exactly what the cause is. Could also be that he/ she swallowed something sharp that needs attention. In either case, medical assistance is required immediately - their lives could depend on it.
