I have a 3 year old German Shepherd and he wont stay off the couch. He only does it when everyone is gone. He is not allowed on ANY of our furniture, not even our bed, and never has been. He has two beds of his own and knows to goto them when told. Ive tried scolding him, sticky tape, mouse traps, piling pillows and spanking him. When I stand by the couch after he has been on it, he comes crawling over to me like he know what he did(ears tucked back and very low to the ground). The mouse traps work just great but he is smart enough to know when they aren't there. The vet recommended clear double sided tape that he couldnt see but was still smart enough to avoid getting on it so I tried putting the tape on there without him being in the room and he still knows. I dont want to have to put stuff on the couch when I leave and I also do not want to crate him. Other than the couch thing he is a extremely obedient dog. Can someone please help me out with this because im about to lose my mind?

I've heard a lot of mixed stuff about this. I've read it can make them sick and I know somethings can like chocolate, alchohol, and a lot of other stuff but I also found something, Vets, that say otherwise like here

hi id really love to rehome a puppy trouble is i dont have a lot of money at all with it just being christmas nd me being a parent i spent a fortune AS USUAL!!!!!!!!!
I have 2 rabbits and tropical fish the dog must be very good with toddlers as i have a 3 year old who loves tostroke animals - gently of course as rabbits dont take kindly to being played with roughly.
Id idealy like a shar pei but i realise this is un acheivable on a smalll budget, id also like a german shepherd, alsation, bull mastiff, golden retriever or a labrador
preferably not too old but i am open to ANY offers outside these as soon as i see the dog i want ill know it is that dog

sort of an allergic reaction. Any suggestions? My son gave his dog Benadryl at the suggestion of the vet, but the vet's office is already closed.

Currently my family consiting of Mother, Father, 13 yo son, 4 yo daughter has a 3 yo golden retrevier. Housebroke, smart, well-trained, BORED. When home alone constantly chews on thing that he shouldn't, molding, couch legs, ect.. We love taking care of him and he gets plenty of attention from each family member. We don't mind the cleaning, washing, feeding, walking, playing, ect.
Basically, this means that a dog would be fine in our household, all positive.

I am NOT asking for an opinion on weather we get a dog on not, which we most certainly are around mid-june 2007.

Current Pet:
"Shadow"
90 lb 4 yo Golden Retreiver.
Like all goldies he is extremely friendly and sociable.

what i am asking is what breed we should get. We are looking for a dog between 30-70 lbs. These numbers are loose but no dog over 70 is suitable. Interests have been expressed in Harriers, dachshunds, and Standard Schnousers, Weinmeraner

Is there any way to make my dog not be so damn hyper? She is half palmeranian (sp) and half American Eskimo (small dog) and she is always licking me and jumping around. She gets so excited that she pees in the floor. Anyway to fix that?

He's 9 months. Jumps around a lot. We try to ignore it so he doesn't get overly excited. Was ignoring it this morning and he jumped off the couch and wacked his front left leg on the coffee table corner. He immediately started whimpering and holding it funny so I assumed it was broken and whisked him to the vet. She palpated all over, said it felt fine and at that point he was walking on his own, no limp. $50 and we went home.

Now, several hours later, he cried after jumping off our front stoop. His limp is worse than it was this morning. Called the vet, she said to just keep an eye on it and if it's worse tomorrow, go ahead and bring him back in.

I'm a very nervous new dog mom, but I also don't have a lot of cash. An x-ray would help my fears but since I'd rather not shell out for that, I'm hoping somebody on Yahoo Answers has experienced this or knows what I should worry/not worry about?

Thanks if you read this entire thing! :)

He is about a year old now, a rescue dog. His name now is Junior, but he doesn't listen to it, and I think a new name in a new home is a good start. He is pitbull dog, mainly all white with a brindle head and a few spots on his back. I have another Pit at home and her name is Gypsy. I'd like a name that is compareable to hers, and maybe strating with a S, but that is not the most important. I don't want a name that is sick or mean sounding. I don't think that should be attached to these breeds. He is a little shy, but very lovable, and playful.. Any ideas would be helpful thanks.

My dog has been throwing up off and on for a week, but she is acting nomal, eating and drinking fine. Even her poops are normal.
She is vomiting at all different times of the day sometimes just clear mucus other time digested and undigested food. It seems really strange. I called my vet and they told me to use pepto bismol but I just don't see how that is going to do any good if she can keep food and liquid down most of the time. Please help, what could this be?

My dog went into heat for the first time this week and she's been peeing constantly. I've got an appointment to get her fixed Tuesday but I was wondering if a dog that's in heat for the first time keeps peeing in little bits or could it be a UTI?
