benadryl will not hurt your dog. We used to have a white boxer who had very bad allergies (studies show dogs with lighter color have worse allergies) and we would give him a benedryl pill wrapped up in cheese about twice a day, before work, and before dinner. It does make them a bit drowsy (just as it does us humans) but it's just fine. actually, he never knew he was taking a pill, he thought it was a reward. It may not be a bite or an allergic reaction really, it may just be his allergies to mold, etc. I wouldn't fret, just call your vet and check up in a week or so if it hasn't gone away.

Benadryl won't hurt your dog. It may help your dog depending on what is going on. Call an emergency clinic and talk to someone there to be sure. I say this mostly because someone may give you advice and it could be something harmful for your dog. They could even say they are a Vet and it doesn't mean they are!
I have given Benadryl at some time or other to pretty much every dog I have ever had. Usually for itching due to allergies (live in a polluted city with a hot humid climate!) or for insect/bug bites.

2mg of benadryl per pound every 8 hours. Call the after hours and confirm the dosage and that way, the vet will also have a record of the incidence and can answer any further questions. Be sure that the benadryl is diphenhydramine hydrochloride. Do not give any other form that may include other medications (like acetaminophen). You want the white and pink, regular benadryl allergy formula (or generic is fine). NOT the sinus headache one.

She probably got bit by something or ate something and is having a reaction. You NEED to get her to a vet!! I'm sure you're vet has an on-call number you can call for after-hours vet care. Allergic reactions, especially on the face, can be very serious. Not only could it cause her brain to swell (causing permanent damage or death), but it could cause breathing problems (which could also cause death).

Sounds like maybe a bee sting or some other bug bite. If you have any childrens benadryl give him a dose based on his weight. You can give dogs the same medicines as people just watch how much you give.

It sounds like an allergic reaction to some kind of bite, or something she ate. The best thing to do is to get her to the Emergency Animal Hospital. They are open 24 hours.

Could it be some kind of insect bite?
I had a dog one time that would have made a good sent dog and she would swell up that. I didn't do anything about cause it either had to be an ant bite or a bee bite or a wasp.
