Did your vet have a look at your doggie before prescribing pepto?
If I was in your situation, I would definitely search for another vet by asking (word of mouth), Craigslist in your area (that's how I found my dog's vet great one), forums...
I would not wait too long either. Simply to rest assured that my dog is ok. My dog used to have vomiting problems along with diarrhea. the vet we have now is specialized in acupuncture, chinese medicine approach. he directed us towards a new diet, natural herbs in capsules. it really helped
us
good luck with your dog

The throwing up can be a sign of something more serious.
How old is your dog?
Have you ever had her blood work done?
Often times, animals such as cats and dogs don't show obvious signs of serious illness. But anytime your animal is doing something out of the ordinary (for them) then you should have cause for comcer. This ranges anywhere from behavior to body function.
Generally, one cannot detect these serious issues that pets can develop- as you cannot 'ask' them what is wrong. So you go to your vet and have a blood panel done.
The blood work will show everything that is going on with you pet. Kidney, and/or liver failure, etc. Things that you cannot see with your naked eye.
But for you, depending on how old she is- she should have blood work done every so often anyways, so you can catch something early if it occurs. More so if she's older. Up to as often as once or twice a year- depending on condition and circumstances.
As long as you have determined that this was not caused by somthing she ate, then I would see if this persists, and if so, then more than likely go ahead with a blood panel. Your better safe than sorry. Besides, a panel generally runs between $45-75 and that's much less expensive than serious illness vet bills later on.
Also, I can't imagine a vet advising the use of a human 'over the counter' for an animal. Personally, I would not do that.
And, in my personal experience- I have had animals where they were throwing up randomly for no reason- which is actually a sign for kidney/liver issues that I had to deal with. Finding that out was very helpfull information, as it allowed us to give her proper treatment.

I would recommend calling a different vet or an animal hospital. For your vet to tell you to give the dog pepto bismol is unacceptable and is very unethical. The dog could possibly have some type of worm so get her to the vet asap.

My pup does the same thing!! I figured out the problem though. My dog is 9 months old, if your dog is under a year old then this might be the solution. If you don't feed your dog right before bedtime they'll get hungry and through up stomach acid/bile. Make sure after their last potty feed them a samll bedtime snack, if you wait long you'll have to take them out agian and they'll just potty out all the food you gave him. Try feeding your dog right before bedtime and it'll start to work. When you feed them dinner feed a small portion so that they'll be hungry for their bedtime meal.

How old is your dog? If its just a pup and your trying out food, it may be that she has a sensative stomach. If its an older dog and it just started happening, then I would go to a different vet because this is not something that should be taken lightly.

I'm going to answer your question with one of my own.
If your doctor told YOU to take Pepto Bismol for the exact same syptoms, would you say, "Well, I just don't see how that is going to do any good."?
Or would you just do it and see if it worked?
Get off the computer and give your dog his medicine.

I don't agree with your vet @ all. Try mixing yogurt with 3.25 % fat into her dry food. The acidolphilus in the yogurt aids digestion & soothes the tummy. I use it with my Std Poodles & have for yrs.

try feeding her cooked rice and chicken in a ratio of 3:1. this is a neutral meal that will not upset the dog's stomach.
