Neutering a male pup will lesson the chances of him developing cancer as well as lesson the chances of him marking and "making" unwanted pups. Neutering will also lesson the chances of aggression/fighting with other males.
Neuter your dog-please!

Right now he is just being a puppy. He isn't doing any thing wrong until he is taught that is is wrong. So it is you, cause you don't have control nor do you know how to go about to getting it.

Neutering is important cause most (not all) people that breed their pets are producing nothing but pet quality dogs. So neutering a pet (not a show dog) prevents indiscriminate breeding. Which, of course, is the cause of the over population problem now.

Your best bet is to go to the library and check out the books that they have and then go buy the one that most appeals to you. There are a lot of trainers who have written book so you will have quite a few to choose from.

If you understood the crisis of overpopulation of pets you would neuter your dog. If you saw firsthand the millions of cats and dogs that are killed each year in the USA alone because there are not enough homes, you might neuter your dog. If you saw the tears of the shelter workers who have to kill these innocent animals, even as puppies and kittens, you might neuter your dog.
If you witnessed the thousands of dead animal carcasses sitting on the floors of pet food rendering plants, before they are thrown in a rendering machine to be made into pet food, you might consider neutering your dog.
If you realized how much money is spent on the killing of innocent animals;.
If you saw the pain and terror in an animals eyes when it knows it is about to die, because it smells the death behind the door; maybe then you will neuter your dog.
And if you realized the very real health benefits, you would neuter your dog.
Don't feel bad, just get the facts and make the decision.

We all need to know why we need to spay and neuter our pets. Unless we are professional breeders, not puppy mills or backyard breeders, please, have your dog sterilized.

PS: Get obedience training for your dog and read a book called, The Monks of New Skete. It is a wonderful dog training book and is available at Amazon. com, new and used.
Best to you and your dog. Always have fun when training your dog. It should be a fun experience for both of you.

You should neuter him because it will help the pet population. By doing this less dogs will be roaming the streets and less dogs will be in pounds and put to death because no one wants them. I have a 5 month old puppy and in my own experience it doesn't make him calm down. Check into obedience training for that.

P.S. Some people answering you question are being a little rude towards your spelling, but don't worry about it. I completely understood what you were trying to say!

Neutering him will calm him down a little but it will not make him suddely behave. He's at "that age" where he's going to be into everything. Sounds like he needs more exercise and some dicipline in additon to being neutered.

Don't feel bad about neutering him, it's done all the time and they suffer no ill effects from it. Unless he's a top working dog or a champion show dog that can contribute to the betterment of his breed, there's no reason for him to keep his huevos unless you enjoy having a dog that humps your leg, pillows, dirty clothes, and markes his territory both inside your apartment and out.

You should have done more research before getting this dog. Any dog between 5 and 8 months is going to destroy everything unless you show him what his teeth are allowed to touch. He is teething. Teething dogs destroy things unless they have proper chewtoys like nylabones and kongs. There's a lot of reasons to have him neutered. There's enough dogs, so he doesn't need to be bred. He will wander less. He will show less agression. He won't feel as much of a need to mark his territory which means house breaking is easier (if he's not already house broke). As for his hyperness...It's a freaking PUPPY. Puppies are hyper. You also need to make sure he's getting plenty of exercise, as that will also help with him destroying your apartment. And another thing you need to do is learn how to spell.

Neutering a male dog removes any further sexual developement - hence removing a lot of very negative dog traits. Dogs that have been sterilized DO in fact, live longer. Dogs are highly suseptable to reproductive cancers - neutering him will almost completely remove any risk of testicular cancer. Neutering him will stop him from "Marking" his territory and peeing inappropriately. Neutering will lessen any aggressive tendencies. It will stop him from the urge to roam. It will usually stop humping behaviors. Neutering will releave some anxiety - making him a little less hyper - but not enough to completely change his behavior or personality. Neutering is the BEST thing you can do for your dog. I have NEVER recommended a dog NOT be neutered - the benefits of the surgery are so great.

If he's destroying things in your home while your out, you should look into crate training. Crate training will reduce anxiety levels, hyperness, accidents, destructive behavior and will help your dog understand his "place" in the family. Crate training is recommended by the Human Society of the United States and by 99% od Vets! Good Luck!

What kind of dog do you have? Some breeds are naturally hyper and require more of your attention. If you do spay or neuter your pet, it does tend to calm them some......but it's more that they aren't going looking to the nearest female that's in heat. A 7month old is just a puppy and puppies do chew on things. Provide him with toys that he can chew on, let him know the things he is not allowed to chew on. If you are away alot, maybe doggie daycare is an option. But, if you are away alot all the time, maybe you should'nt have a pet. Dogs(pets in general) require your time and energy, you must be willing to play, run, walk, wrestle, whatever with your dog to let him know he is loved and a part of your family. Patience is key, proper discipline, and quality food are all required. Good quality food makes your pet feel better, behave better, and look better. Don't buy cheapo food, your dog will suffer.

I believe in getting a dog or cat "fixed."
I also believe in using a crate to put the puppy in while we are at work. I have nice things and didn't want to come home to chewed chair legs, etc. It is not mean to use a crate and it becomes the pups special place when he/she wants some quiet time. After Dalton was house broken we just left the door open so that he could come and go as he wished.

Yes he'll calm down, he will live longer, he won't get a female dog pregnant and create a litter of homeless puppies.

Sweetie, I am a teacher so I know that bad spelling does not = "being stupid" but you might want to try to spell check before you post so that it's easier for people to understand what you are asking and help you :)

Here are a bunch of sites about neutering your dog:

Neuter him! Listen to Bob Barker! :)

Also a great book to understand your doggie better is called Cesar's Way by Cesar Millan. It helped me a lot. He has a website too so I'm sure you could get a video if you prefer that.

Get your dog neutered. Yes it will give him a longer life. It is proven statistically that certain types of disease are found less frequently in altered dogs than ones left intact.

It will calm him. It will keep him healthier longer.

And on top of these already wonderful things it will keep him from fathering litter atop litter of unwanted puppies in the future. Please take the time to learn a bit about dogs, it will make both your life and your puppy's a lot better.
