I am moving into a new/bigger apartment in new york city and I really want to get a dog. For people that live in the city, what do you do with your dogs while you work during the day. Im afraid that the puppy would be alone for too long. Any ideas?

I know the first thing you'll be thinking is that he's try to sniff me but it's not that at all. We'll be walking along and he'll be walking to heel beside me and then all of a sudden he'll push his head between my knees lol. I'm not sure what his behaviour means, whether he just wants attention/petting or he's scared or is it something else?

If it helps, he's a lab mix, a little over 1 year old, male. We got him from a rescue shelter on Saturday but he has already settled in perfectly.

Hope someone can help with this behavior! :)

I've tried a divider, a curtain behind the divider to help her feel more secure, an eating schedule, etc. Any new ideas?

She has been there for 3 or 4 months. She's about 60lbs and around 10months old. She is very very hyper, which I can't understand from being in the cage for 3 or 4 months. It is a no kill shelter. I totally fell in love with her when i seen her, but seeing her out almost makes me want to change my mind. With her being only 10months she still in the puppy stage, but will she calmn down? Any advice would be great as I am going back today to actually get her outside in a fenced in yard there.

I have just adopted a 7 month mixed breed. He already understands to pee outside, but as soon as we come in he takes a poop right in front of the door. I have taken him out for differnt lengths of time from 5 minutes to an hour, but he still will poop in the entrance way. He seems to get easily distracted outside with all the noise and the cars, but it doesn't seem to bother him to pee outside with all the noise. Please help!!!

I live in an apartment and I get off work M-F around noon. I know some people think people who work shouldn't have pets, but all pet owners have to work in order to have money to afford their pets! I think my work schedule is pretty nice 4:30am-noon M-F. I have the rest of the day to spend with the pet. However, I do live in an apartment (on the third floor) so I am looking for a dog that is relatively quiet and can do fine by themselves those hours I'm at work. I've contemplated even getting a kitten and a pup at the same time so they can play together. However, I'm not sure that is the best solution. Any ideas on what breed will be okay while I'm at work, is relatively quiet, and is under 10lbs. Does that dog even exist? I've been researching this for quite some time and I've looked at Yorkies, Pomeranians and Papillons. I need advice.

He will be lying on the opposite side of the house then run growling to the door to be let out. Then he scampers far away barking and howling.

I live on a rural property so there's a fair space for him to run around, and also plenty of things for him to be chasing (cows, rabbits, goannas etc). But how does he know there's something out there when he's sleeping? Or is he just hallucinating?

My almost 18 year old Maltese has started to go off her food, she usually eats her two meals a day with relish but now she eats it but doesnt seem to enjoy it as much. Should I feed her chicken or something different? She usually manages pet cubes for old dogs. Otherwise she is healthy and he vet says she is a tough little thing and could go on for another 2 years.

I need to ship a dog from West Africa to Tulsa, Oklahoma, but I have to use an airline with climate controlled cargo because it's too cold here to ship a dog without climate control. Does anyone have any experience with shipping dogs that could help me?!?!?!

The catch is that I can't spent that much to get one, and everywhere I looked these little guys go for alot of money. She used to have one as a girl, saw a pup at a pet store and was so playful and happy (the puppy too). Does anyone know where I can find a t-cup Yorkie in Washington State at a reasonable price....

I have a yorkie baby, she is 12 weeks old. she is potty trained. but the biggest problem i have now is that, my yorkie is not sleep long enough each night. Jello is her name, we play with her every night before we all go to sleep. she will be so tired and she will just drop on the floor and fall asleep in the middle of the game. She goes to sleep for about 90 mins. or 2 hrs tops and then she will wakes up and starts to cry. I will pad her down, and stay with her until she falls a sleep again in about 1 hr. then 90 mins. later, that happens again. she sleeps next to my bed now, i would like to know what can i do so that, jello can sleeps much longer. If not throughout the night, I don't mind waking up once and stay with her for an hour until she goes back to sleep. but 4 or 5 times a night is really hurting me. Please Help
