I have a yorkie baby, she is 12 weeks old. she is potty trained. but the biggest problem i have now is that, my yorkie is not sleep long enough each night. Jello is her name, we play with her every night before we all go to sleep. she will be so tired and she will just drop on the floor and fall asleep in the middle of the game. She goes to sleep for about 90 mins. or 2 hrs tops and then she will wakes up and starts to cry. I will pad her down, and stay with her until she falls a sleep again in about 1 hr. then 90 mins. later, that happens again. she sleeps next to my bed now, i would like to know what can i do so that, jello can sleeps much longer. If not throughout the night, I don't mind waking up once and stay with her for an hour until she goes back to sleep. but 4 or 5 times a night is really hurting me. Please Help

Here is a site that will show you that you are not alone!> http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&rls=GGGL%2CGGGL%3A2006-18%2CGGGL%3Aen&q=puppy+won%27t+sleep+through+the+night&btnG=Search

I would feed her a little Chamomile tea at night. Dump it out of the teabag, and mix 1/2 teaspoon with a spoon of canned food.
Feed it to her about 30 minutes before you put her to bed.
Brew a nice hot cup for yourself, and both of youu will sleep much better..
This remedy was given to me by my vet, many years ago, when I had an orphaned litter, that I had just weaned from the bottle..They weren't allowing me any sleep! I have appreciated that advice many, many times..

She needs a crate to sleep in at night. By 12 weeks puppies start to sleep better with less whining when you use a crate.

Use one that is a small size, she's not gonna grow too much. Lat a soft towel in it for bedding and also the crate comes with a food/water dish that hooks on the inside of the door so you can have water available at all tiems.
OK, you have the crate, what now? First, Do not place it in your bedroom. A living room or kitchen is better. You don't want to be able to hear her cry. more on that later
Try to keep your puppy up a little more during the day, play with her at night like you have been, then hold her and settle her down. When she starts to look sleepy place her in her crate.
Lock the door and give her a treat and tell her good girl for going in her kennel. Then take a light blanket and cover the crate with it. It will block out some of the sound and light and make a better ore peaceful environment for her.
NOW, you have done it. Go to bed. Do not come downstairs until 4 am at least and that would be a potty break, take her out she does her thing, take her in, put her back in the crate, treat, goodnight. Cover her, you go back to bed.

You see, if you don't hear her crying in the middle of the night for a playromp then she will eventually give up and will learn to sleep all night. This is the age when you need to do this for your own sanity. It is the best thing you can do for her, too.

This is very normal for a puppy of her age. I have a basset pup that is 18 weeks, and he is still getting up overnight here and there. My best suggestion would be for you to find somewhere with nothing that can hurt her, maybe a kitchen or bathroom, and set her up for the night. Put up a gate so she can not get out, give her plenty of toys, a puppy pad, a blanket that smells like you, etc. Anything she is used to having, and as mean as it sounds, ignore her when she starts crying. She will learn to amuse herself if she wakes up, and will eventually grow out of it. This has worked wonders for our new puppy.

that is one of the great things about having a puppy. They are just like babies they nap. she will eventually grow out of it. Have you though of getting her a bone or a toy that she can play with when she wakes up. Maybe a Knog they are great toys for dogs. Put some peanut butter in there and freeze it, it will occupy her for hours, she will prbably fall back to sleep playing with it

good luck
and congrats on the little one

first cute name i like jello for a yorkie! second you going to her everytime she crys is what's wrong. let her cry. it's hard but if you really want it to stop let her be. if you can't sleep and listen to it, then place her crate someplace you can't hear her. but that is still warm and safe in the house. of course she's going to keep crying, you keep coming and that's why she crys. she'll be fine for 6 hours or so a night. be strong, and she'll be fine. good luck. and be consistant don't let her be for one night, feel bad the next and go to her. or it's going to start all over again. start tonight. let her cry.
