My pit bull is not that in need of socialization. However, there are other dogs that she doesn't like and will try to get at (mostly little yapping, ankle biting dogs and curly-haired dogs) and others where she'll turn and run (big German Sheperds).

My question is, is there a way to possibly socialize my pit to like these dogs?

I have a 7 month old lab that has only dropped one testicle. My vet said to give him about a year and if the other one hasn't dropped, they'd go in through his abdomen to retrieve it. I'm in the process of getting second opinions, because I want him neutered, but I don't like the idea of major surgery. I was wondering what the effect would be if only the dropped testicle was removed?

If a dog salon/spa or a doggie daycare offered massage services for your dog by a certified canine massage therapist, would you be interested?

What price would you consider "reasonable" for a 10-15 minute "relaxation" massage, versus a 20-30 minute "deep tissue" massage? Which would you be more likely to request?

If you saw positive results in your dog's behavior, muscle tone, or movement as a result, would you be likely to continue it as an ongoing routine, or more of a "once in a while" puppy perk?

My husband and I want to buy a purebred AKC Long haired
dachshound. There are 5 breeders in our state, that we know of.
We've applied to each one for a puppy and been turned
down at each one for reasons that don't make any sense.
About us. I'm 35. My husband is 51. We have 2 children.
We had another dog (another longhaired dachshound ).
However, it died, last year, due to cancer after surgury at the vets.
We own our own home. A large 4 bedroom, with a fenced yard.
I am a stay at home mom. There would always be an adult home with the puppy.
We have excellent references from our local vet, friends from the AKC shows (where we used to show our other dog), and neighbors.
Here were the excuses the breeders used not to sell us a puppy.
1. We have children. 2. Our home is too big. 3. Our vet is too
expensive. 4. We have owned a show dog. 5. My husband is too
old to own a dog.
How do we convince a breeder to sell us a puppy ? We would give it a wonderful home .

Me and this female used to be really good friends, even were roommates ( she was a horrible roommate too, used to leave my apartment a mess and let her dog shyt all in its cage all day). I had known her for over 3years and I thought we shared a pretty good bond. That is until she started using me and taking advantage of my kindness, but never being there for me when I needed her, so I decided that the friendship was over ( it got pretty ugly too). Long story short, we fell out of friendship, I tried a few times to rebuild it, but she would just curse me and ask me to forget her number, and so I did. Now, 3mons later I get a text out of the blue saying "Do you want my dog? If not I'm taking him to the home on Friday, because I'm leaving." Honestly, it's a good dog and I'd hate to see it possibly go to the pound and never come out. But I'm wonderign why me of all people was asked to take him. What would you do in this situation? I have my own dog now too?

When i moved in with my boyfriend i had a male cockerspaniel and he had 2 male minature pinchers and 1 female min pin. It went ok for the first couple of months, with my cockerspaniel as the dominant dog, that didnt work so well. He wouldnt let the other dogs play with any of the toys and he started growling at them. So i took my vets advice and changed the dominance to our biggest min pin. He eats first, gets treats first, goes outside and comes back in first. We acknowledge him first as well. My cockerspaniel gets along with all the other dogs except for my big min pin(spanky) Spanky wont play with the toys now. Also, my cocker growls at him all the time, and here recently they've been attacking each other. My cocker attacks the most. It started out with a little tussel every once in awhile, and now its everyday to twice a day and its gotten alot worse. Theyre always bleeding and limping after wards now. They are fixed and we've tried everything. What else can we do to stop this.

I have a 10 y/o mix breed dog. Since she's not so young anymore and for the sake of her health, I try not to give her table scraps. But... everytime I eat, she looks at me with big old puppy dog eyes. I can't help it but give in and give her a little bite. then another bite... she likes to eat dog food, It's not like she's starving. She's not overweight. I just can't say no to her big old brown eyes. Don't you hate it yet love those puppy dog eyes? Ugh! I don't know which is worse, the kids or the dogs...

Recently rescued a dog. He had kennel cough, had him treated, it got worse. Went to another vet, and he said he had pnemonia. Tryed diff antibiotics. He still didn't improve. Took him back to vet and he was admitted with iv drugs and fluids for almost 4 days. Brought him home, noticed some improvement, cough still bad. He stopped eating and drinking. Bought pedialyte, gave thru a syrynge, pretty much, the pedialyte saved his life. He then had energy, drank and ate on his own for a few days. He still has the cough, but not as bad. Anyway, he is just a 5 month old pup. He played and ran around when we first got him, played fetch, taught him to sit, now, he just lays there. He doesn't even want to go out to pee. He seems like he aged 15 yrs. I know he isn't all the way recovered yet, but I am just curious, if my puppys personality will come back, for there are no signs of the same dog.

I live in Minnesota where it gets very cold. My pug has bad hips and when I take her out on days like today (-5 degrees), she can't go potty because the ground is so cold/frozen. She begins to stiffen up and has something almost like a seizure. I'm not sure what to do, since if she doesn't go potty for a while, that same thing happens. I was wondering if anyone had any clue as to how I can maybe make the ground warmer or any ideas that could help. At this point, I'm not sure if she is trainable in kitty litter since she is 5 years old. Thanks!

Is this too long for her to be in the cage? Is there abnother option? Leaving her loose and she poops everywhere and chews things, and outside is too cold. She is about three months old. she is a beagle-basset mix.

Our dog is 2 years old & has been potty trained since she was 6 months old. We moved about 2 months ago into our new home (all new carpet, all new flooring & paint on walls) where the previous tennents didn't have pets anyway. She started pooping on my sons bedroom floor about a week ago out of the blue. We thought it was because we didn't bring her out enough, but we started to take her out 4 or 5 times a night & more than that throughout the day. As soon as she would come in, she would go to his room once we were settled back into whatever we were doing & poop. Not even in the same spot, just anywhere in there! If it happens at night, it wakes him up (he's 10 months old & JUST started sleeping through the night with only 1 waking). So she's pushing his habits backwards now also. With my son, it's hard to take her for long walks & we don't have a fenced in yard, but we let her go out for 30mins or so. & If she was doing this cuz she is unhappy with the move, why start 2 months after?

My dog will not stop chewing on her lower backside. She has been doing this for quite sometime, and now has hotspots and sores. I changed her diet to all natural organic food, and she has been on that for a month now. This was suggested by the vet thinking that maybe she was having food allergies, which is common in dogs. However this isn't working. Are there special vitamins or medicines I could give her? Anything I could give her immediatley to start healing those sores?

I have a shih tzu, and live in a very un-safe area, its fine to take my dog out when its daylight, but a lone female walking a tiny dog is not very safe after dark or early morning. During the winter months, I take my dog into the garden, that is quite spacious, and throw balls etc a couple of times in the evening (15-25mins) and once in the morning before i go to work? and he seems to love it.

We go for long walks on the weekends, as I am able to go out during the daytime.

Is this ok? Do you think he is getting enought exercise and socialisation?

My husband and I are planning to go to Disney for a few days. I normally leave my dog with my mother but she cannot take care of her for those days, I hate to put her in a kennel. She really is not used to traveling, I want to take her with us in the car and check into a dog friendly hotel leave her in the room. It would be like she is at home. I am sure their are places we can take her when we are not in the park. Can anyone give me any ideas or comments?
