Yorkie is small dog, 2 1/2 lb is normal for 4 months, your vet is right. If it's getting to big it's tiny frame won't hold it. I have two that weight just about 5 lb, one is 12 months and another one is 15 months.

The average weight for a Yorkie is 5 to 7 lbs. (as adults). It really sounds to me like your 4 month old pup is right on track!! You do not want him to be to big. (as being over weight is a health concern...can cause a lot of health issues).

Are you feeding him a food made for puppies? That is all I would do. Make sure the food you are feeding him is made for puppies until 1 year old. (then switch the food slowly).

If your vet told you he is ok. I'm sure he his!! Sound like he is DOING GREAT!!!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Try mixing wet food with dry 50-50, and/or soak the kibble in some water or chicken broth until it softens up. You can also offer him bits of cooked chicken or steak with his meals.

Good brands of food:
Artemis, Merrick, Verus, Timberwolf Organics, Wellness, Wysong, Chicken Soup.
Make sure he's only eating puppy food, many brands now have small breed puppy food as well, which is even better. Go to the food brand websites to find stores near you that carry each brand, or order online at www.petfooddirect.com.

Please note that Yorkies are prone to obesity, make sure your vet thinks he's at a healthy weight at all times. A lot of owners make the mistake of thinking a dog needs to look plump to be healthy- in reality, a healthy dog actually looks a little lean to most people.

What kind of Yorkie is it? I think you have a TEACUP, a teacup can weigh up to 4lbs or less some don't even go up to a pound...lol... I have at TOY Yorkie and it weighs 4.5lbs and he's 5month... If you don't seem him eating try feeding him w/your hand and always have dry food and water available to him...

What I do is I smash his dry food 'cause his mouth is to small then I put some chicken and some syrup on top...

Make sure your giving your dog some sweets, for some reason they need sugar... Take a look at him gums, if they are white and NOT bight pink he need some sugar...
