There shouldn't be any side-effects of this drug. It is actually very effective for staph infections that are in the skin. Cockers are known for problems with that... circular lesions, especially on the the belly area. It is a good choice of antibiotic, no teeth discoloration or kidney concerns. I worry if you have one of those cockers that has chronic skin problems if they are already starting at 15 weeks old. Be prepared for constant attention to your dog's skin. Keep fleas gone, use only pet medicated shampoos, and do whatever is necessary to control allergy problems that may show up after a year old. Good luck.

I'm not a Vet, but I know that my dog has been on cephalexin before for skin problems and seemed to tolerate it well with no side effects...perhaps you should call your vets office and ask them for some things to watch for...Good luck

Usually cephalexin is well tolerated by pups as well as older dogs. Just keep a good eye on your pup.

my bulldog is on cephelexin right now for the same exact thing and he never has any problems with it...it's the steroid that's sometimes prescribed with it that gives us a problem...he's starving and thirsty all the time and has to go out constantly(at least he lets us know!) and he just seems all "hopped up"...but the antibiotics, never a problem!
