I am entering and showing the dog myself. Should I use the Am. Bred class, or the novice. Which would be better. He is just out of the puppy classes at 19 months.

I'll be gone for six hours a day but I will have someone coming over to walk him and play with him every 3 hours. I don 't really think it matters if it's a watch dog or not. I would prefer it medium sized since im only 11 it would be hard for me to handle a small fragile dog. I want a small or medium shedder. I would like a dog that is not a couch potatoe but a dog that likes to go on walks maybe one or two times a day. A dog that is friendly to everybody. Oh and a dog that doesnt get sick easily, im not saying that I want a dog that is never sick I just want a dog that wont get sick EASILY. If you need any more info then please go ahead and ask, If not please tell me, thank you!

This is my ratn on the lack of care so many neglectful people have for their pets wellfair! I am the proud owner of 6 rats and 2 cats and if ever any of them were sick I would be on the phone with my vet within seconds. If you are going to have any animal there should always be at least $300 (depending on vet costs in your area) put aside for emergency vet visits! When you get an animal you should be dedicated to take care of it, not just say oh well it's sick who cares! If you are not willing to take care of an animal like tit was your very own child then you have no right to have one at all! It sickens me that there are people out there who don't actually do any reasearch before they get an animal! And I juyst can't stand it. i AM DISGUSTED BY SOME PEOPLES ATTITUDE TOWARDS THEIR ANIMAL ON THIS PAGE!

Here it is plain and simple, if your animal is sick THEN TAKE IT TO A VET!!!!!!!!!!

We have a 2 year old mutt (we think part lab). She is very loving (specially with my husband) And we've never had any major problems wth her. Since I found out Im pregnant I started changing some things just beacuse I dont want her to be in shock when the baby arrives. Fo example I dont let her jump to greet me when I get home, I dont let her on the bed when I am in it. My baby is Due at teh end of March, is there something else I should do to get her ready for the "new puppy"??? Any book I should read? I've heard about the blanket with baby scent...will do, but any other idea?

I need to know how I should feed my puppies. Everytime I feed the puppies the mama dog comes over and attacks them. I want her to teach them right from wrong, but I can't stand the way it looks when she jumps one of them. She chooses which plate is hers period. She's just hateful towards the puppies come feeding time. Never bit or snapped at a single person while eating. You can reach right down at her. Never had an incident.

Should I be feeding them totally seperate from her or should I put a plate down for her and them? I'm keeping 2 and don't want to feed them seperate all the time. I can, but I feel like if I start off feeding them seperate then she want be able to teach them. I feel that later down the road I will always have dogs fighting come feeding time unless I let her do it now.

How should I be going about this? She jumps them really hard when they come toward her food. Should I just let it happen? Should I get onto her? Should I feed them seperate? What should I do

I was laying in bed talking on my cell phone, my dog (female boston terrier) was laying right up against me. I went to scratch my leg and I felt something funny and I looked at my hand and it was dog poop, I jumped up and there was a small area of dog poop, it wasn't there before and she was sleeping the whole time.
It worries me a little because there has been other times this happened. Help!

How long did you cry for. Or did you cry? How old was your dog? My dog is 8 and she is so lovable. But I am afraid that she's going soon. Some of her hair is gray, very layed back. Would she live longer if we got her a puppy to play with? Please help. I am scared.

He is very protective of my family especially when we are dog walking. He is well socialised, but when me or my daughter go to pet another dog or one goes to close to us he warns them off. does anyone have any hints or advice about what i could do to make this easier on him to accept another dog in the house.

OK, so with all the help here, I found a stud for my dog!! She is a CKC Shih Tzu. I was able to find a pure bred APRI registered Jack Russel to be the father!

I really apreaciated all the help when the puppies were born! Even though I lost 2 because I didn't know I should help her if one of the puppies got stuck for 3 hours! But there 10 others came out just fine! So, the puppies are registered too. The are registered Jack-Shihs, through the American Hybrid Dog Registry! I plan to sell them for $800 each. Do you know where I can sell them?

A friends Pom mix had several puppies premature and won't nurse them. The family has been feeding them the correct milk every 3 hours. One of them has started having siezures and will stop breathing. She's brought back each time. The vet said to give it some honey. They said the puppy is having trouble swallowing the milk, it keeps coming back up some. She needs real advise. The vet hasn't returned their call as of yet. ASAP

This is for real she either eats that stuff she did earlier or even right after she has done it. I know this is disgusting but its true, they say its boredom or hunger she doesnt suffer from either. I want to find a way other than pills to stop this.

I have a mini daschund puppy who doesn't like kongs, nyla bones, rope, rawhides, Greenies, or bones. I am running out of ideas (and money) for things to keep him busy. He seems to always prefer my hands or clothes. Anyone have any healthy and safe chew ideas?

I recently acquired an 11 day old pup that was found on the side of the road and brought into the vet clinic I work at. last night i noticed a red "rash" appearing on her lower abdomen which was begining to raise slightly like a blister. Overnight I placed her in a wicker basket. she was on a chanille blanket on top of a heating pad that was kept on low. This morning, the "whelp" had grown to be about 1 1/2 inches long and 1/4 inches wide and was raised and slightly hardened. she eats well and her bowel movements are normal, as is her urinating. she has been bottle fed with Esbilac, a milk replacer i got from my vet. My vet suprisingly does not know what is causing this "whelp" on her stomach. It starts at her bottom left nipple and runs in an angle up to her side. since this morning, her lower abdomen has begun to turn more red, but it is not raised. What could cause this?? What could I try to help heal this??
