I recently acquired an 11 day old pup that was found on the side of the road and brought into the vet clinic I work at. last night i noticed a red "rash" appearing on her lower abdomen which was begining to raise slightly like a blister. Overnight I placed her in a wicker basket. she was on a chanille blanket on top of a heating pad that was kept on low. This morning, the "whelp" had grown to be about 1 1/2 inches long and 1/4 inches wide and was raised and slightly hardened. she eats well and her bowel movements are normal, as is her urinating. she has been bottle fed with Esbilac, a milk replacer i got from my vet. My vet suprisingly does not know what is causing this "whelp" on her stomach. It starts at her bottom left nipple and runs in an angle up to her side. since this morning, her lower abdomen has begun to turn more red, but it is not raised. What could cause this?? What could I try to help heal this??

It sounds to me like allergies or she was bitten by something. If you have already taken her to the vet which it sounds like you have, I would try changing her to a different tyupe of milk replacement. She may be allergic to that. Does she scratch at it? Try putting some hydrocotizone on it if she is itchy. Look at it closely to make sure there is not anything in her skin that could be iritating her. Since you found her you dont know what kind of shrubs or bushes she was exposed to.

A "whelp" is a newborn pup. A welt is what you are describing.
Sounds like you really should take the pup to the vet ASAP. Hopefully, there is not an infection that came about from the umbilicus at birth. Really, see a vet.

Take it t the vet right away! Something like that happened to my dog. Turns out she had a tumor thing and she died within 1 month!

Are you sure you don't mean WELT? Look up "whelp" in the dictionary and come back.

What vet clinic do you work at? I want to know so that I don't take my dog there to get whelped...

Perhaps its puppy acne? My puppy had a similar rash on her belly when she was little. It was cleared up using a special shampoo
