Has she been doing it for hours or days? If its hours, then she is likely in the first stages. If its days, she could just have be having Nesting Syndrome. This is hormones that cause the mom to get really ready to have her babies. There instict to shred and to make bedding and find dark, quiet areas, are from when they were wolves and needed a good den to have the babies. If it has been for days she is getting very close.
Dogs dont usually get milk at the nipples till a day or 2 before birth. Just pinching the nipple lightly if a little liquid comes out then shes getting ready, she doesnt need real full dugs to produce milk. Some females hang all the way to the ground, some dont look milky at all. Also: are you totally sure she is pregnant.
Have you had it confirmed with the vet? She could be having a false pregnancy if she has NO milk at all. She can be exhibiting behavior for a long time.
Is she pushing? Contracting? Is there any discharge? Best to call a vet if anything like that is happening. She could have one stuck in the canal!

It sounds like that she is pretty close... Keep a good eye on her so that you make sure that when she does have the babies you will be there.. You'll know cause she will be lookin for somewhere to lay down... Mainly away from everyone:) Cause dogs always get tired while they are havin there babies.. Make sure that she bust the sac and cleans them up if you see that she isn't doing anything to help the puppies help her by simply busting open the sac and take a very soft cloth and wipe him/her off if the puppy isnt breathing very gently kinda like your rubbin your hands together do that while the puppy is in the cloth:) I have saved a couple puppies Lives by bein my my dogs side.. I used to work at a vet hospital:) So I am pretty experianced:) That is the best thing in the world is to watch the babies being borm Som,e people say it is nasty but I find it interesting:) But Good Luck

panting and scratching are good signs. be sure you have her in the room and area that you want her in, as once she has them you wont get her out and the mess will be a problem. an empty cardboard box the size of a washing machine (you can get these from whiteware stores) are perfect, and you need tonnes of newspapers.

you may be too late though in getting this sorted as you need to [prepare her weeks ago for the intended nest. though even so, the tend to chose the place.

The milk comes in after the pups are born.
Find her a nice dry, warm, safe place to hide.
She needs her privacy.....Let her rest.
Maybe the bottom of a closet. Or throw a
blanket over a large crate. They really need
quiet and dark....Good Luck

keep a close eye on her time is getting close. watch for discharge, a lot of dogs will start to shivering like they are freezing when in true labor, but not all she may also act very uneasy and jittery. make sure she breaks the babies out of the sacks as soon as they are born if not you may need to help her. have an old towel to dry them and if not breathing rub them vigorously in the towel to stimulate breathing

She is most likely in labor. Sometimes the milk does not come until after the babies start coming. You need to put her in a confined area so you can check on her and help her if needed,

What would ever possess you to squeeze the poor *****'s teat?Other than insuring that she has a comfortable place to birth and cool water to drink ,leave her alone. She knows what to do instinctively.

she's getting close but it could still possibly be several hours before she actually delivers. comfort her and be close to her and reassure her that everything will be fine. are you prepared with what you need to assist her...does she have a whelping area? don't leave her.

the time is close, do you know when she was bred? I would say that as soon as this litter is born, have her spayed.
