I live in an apartment and my neighbors continue to allow their dogs to use the restroom everywhere. I have to be careful where I step because thet never clean up behind their animal. I have two children and I can't let them out to play in fear that they might track some waste back inside the apartment.

I have a purebred male Rott and and purebred female Chow. My chow just came into heat and we didn't realize it. I don't think they succeeded in mating but I was wondering if they did would it kill her to have the pups? And would it ruin her from producing purebred Chows in the future? I heard that once a purebred is mixed w/ another breed, they are ruined and will forever produce mixed dogs. Is this true?

About 2 hours ago, I woke up to my dog (laborador retreaver) favoring his right side, seeming unsteady, sometimes walking in circles. However, he's very responsive. Eating, using the bathroom, following commands, wagging his tail. Any idea as to what this is? Is it an emergency?

My 1 1/2 year old Cairn is constantly scratching herself, licking & biting at her legs. At one point she had some spots that were almost bald.

She's been on antibiotics & prednisone twice & that seems like the only time she has any relief. The vet says she can have benedryl, but I don't want to overdo it - I want to figure out what's wrong. I don't think it's seasonal, because this has been ongoing through the winter until now. The vet recommended trying different foods & so far she's scratched her way through sensitive skin & venison varieties.

We also have to get her anal glands emptied almost once a month.

Any ideas?

I have a pitbull terrier. I have found that I am very selfish with my dog. So much to the point that I do not want to mate her. I could make a lot of money, but I do not want to see her all blown up. I definately do not want the after effects of having puppies. So do you think that is crazy? What would you do? Inquiring minds want to know.

My german spitz/pomeranian dog is crazy and hates everything. Especially dogs more than anything. He's already seven years old and I adopted him when he was two from a rescue and we think he was abused. I tried training him, but it didn't work. Does anyone know of a way to help him?

Parvo is a fatal virus that makes dogs dehydrated. You would not tell a human that is being dehydrated no water for 24 hours. His advise would have killed my dog. Thank god for the internet. We found out what parvo was and called a family friend that has many dogs. She set us on the right track. Now knowing that the vets advise could have killed my dog is there anything I can do to help others know not to bring their dog there because he might not be giving the best care?

My new puppy is very aggressive and he has like an anger issue. It's especially hard for us, because our older dog is very shy, nice, tamed, and very tolerant. Our new puppy likes to growl and "attack" people, which we're trying to break. We tried to make him sit down for a long period of time and say "no" repeatedly, as it worked for my older dog. My puppy tries to run away, and it whimpers very loudly and continuously, as if we're abusing him, and we hate the noise. So, we tried to sternly say "no", but that doesn't work either. Please give us some firm and workable advice. We really need it. Thank you.

He has been o.k. until now. He wants to run, but I can't go as fast or as far as he would like! He has been with my other 2 dogs and they get along fine! He jumps our 4 foot fence and goes swimming most everyday! He has good food and water, but he has found a way out and he just keeps chewing the fence into peices! Then he makes a hole and he is gone! We keep replacing the pickets, but he chews them up. Our vet said not to fix him due to it shorting his life span. I have never heard of this, but this vet is the best in our city!! So I have to trust him, right!? Anyway, please help me before my husband and I get a divorce over this!!!! And yes I have tried to find him a home in the country. One of our foster children brought him when she came to live w/us 3 1/2 years ago. She ended up in jail and I couldn't put the dog to sleep. Any help would be great!

I'm not sure why, but my dogs like to bring firewood logs into the house and chew on it. I keep throwiing it back out on the pile but they keep doing this unless I keep them inside. Anyone else experience this?
