I am disabled and I am looking for an organization where I can get a service dog to assist me. Does anyone know of anything around the Pheonix area?

Well, sometimes you can find SD organizations in your area, and sometimes you can't. What do you want the SD to do? Mobility? Medical alert? Emotional support? Assist with tasks around the house (light switches, opening cabinets, picking things up)? Some organizations train dogs for specific tasks while others train them for multiple tasks. First figure out what you need the dog to do, then you can find an organization that will accommodate your needs.

When I was looking to put my dog into service, I searched the web (using yahoo of course) to find lots of info. I have many links saved in my favorites that I'm willing to share with you. Send me an email (with SD as the subject so I don't delete it). My address is available in my profile, just click on my name.

Also, if you get a SD be prepared to be on display. Everywhere I go with my dog people point or make comments, and it's not even subtle. I often feel like my dog is the first dog people have ever seen. If I had a quarter for every time I heard, "Oh, look at the dog!" I'd be a multimillionaire by now!
