If you do not know the answer to this question yourself then you are not a professional breeder, and therefore my answer is...spay and neuter your pets!

She is probably not yet fully in season or she is on her way out. There is about a seven day period in the 3 week cycle when they are receptive The easiest way to tell without bringing the Vet in to it is to check the color of the drippings when they become a strawberry to red color she should be ready. If the color is going to brown ...to late .forget it.If the color is lighter than strawberry ..to soon ....separate them for a few days or the male may get so frustrated and worn out that he wont breed her..Hope this helps .Good Luck

You can try to hold her up yourself, or build her a little stand to hold her there. We had this same problem a short while ago with our Bossies. She kept dropping her butt to turn around and lick him. Then, she'd stand for him and get him interested again. *sigh* I tried to hold her up, but my male got too nervous, so he ended up having to corner her in the hallway to get a hold of her. It took some extra time, but he caught her. Expecting the litter in a bit over a week now.

If you'd like more info on a stand, let me know.

Good luck!

You should have your male watch another experienced male in the act. The dogs have the instinct to mate, but not the knowledge. Your male will have to get strong enough to hold the female up. It is just like male dogs learning to pee on a tree. Until they see another male hike his leg, they just sort of squat like the females.

The world is over populated with dogs and cats, do the responsible thing, and have your pets spayed or neutered, this is what your female is trying to tell you!!!

She refuses to mate because the male dog is not to her liking. If you have tried this with the same dog, and she's refused him before....she will NEVER mate with him.

Some females are very picky...I'm talking about both species ;)

I do not think she is ready yet. When she raises her tail and puts it to the side, then she is ready. She will only accept the male when she is ready.

Give it time, she'll eventually be receptive to male dogs. Maybe it's not time for her to breed just yet.

Easiest way is to take them to the vet and have them handle the situation.

She's obviously not interested. Can you find another sire? Perhaps you can trade with another breeder.
