It's a natural thing for pooch to confuse a block of fire wood for his chew toy. Our Labs do it all the time. No reason to be afraid. Just keep an eye on their teeth, gums, tongue, etc. and make sure they don't get splinters (no joke). If this happens, call your vet and see if they feel you should bring them in or if you should do it yourself - we'll always done this ourselves. Hey, if it saves your slippers.... Be Happy!!!! LOL!!!

My dog would carry the firewood around and chew on it outside. The few times he did bring one in, it was thrown into the fire. He learned quickly! When we asked the vet about this, he said it was ok and to just check the dog's mouth to make sure there weren't any splinters or infections.

Not a good idea for a dog to chew on wood cause he can get a splinter stuck in his mouth or swallow a splinter. Get him a nylabone to chew on and keep the firewood away from him.

Don't let the dogs chew on firewood. Parts can splinter off and become stuck in the dog's stomach, colon, and small intestine, requiring surgery for removal.

Yes!! and I have to tell you get them out of the habit right away! My dog was doing the same thing and I didnt think anything of it until he started vomiting and having bloody diahrea all over the house I had to rush him to the vet and get x-rays etc to see if he had a blockage...lucky he didnt but I still had to starve him for 24 hours and give him pills to help break down the wood he ingested which was perforating his bowels and causing him to bleed inside. It cost me over 200 dollars CAN to get him well again, and now I always make sure to clean up all the sticks in my yard because if they swallow the pieces it can kill them! My dog was very sick indeed it scared the crap out of me. So take the wood away from yours and teach them not to touch it because it can really hurt them!!

We had a Brittany Spaniel who would climb out of his dog run, grab a log from the woodpile and climb back up the woodpile to jump back into his dog run. He'd then chew the heck out of his log.

Good Luck....

We have Chihuahuas and they will bring in sticks, rocks and other things of nature like this to chew on. Crazy, huh? Not sure why they do this.

Go here for an awesome dog training program http://OnlineDogTraining.enle.info/?m4Ql
Since it is obvious that you do not have a clue about obedience training, your services should be for free. You cannot train even an adult dog for 8 hours a day. About the most that can be done at any one time is 10 - 20 minutes and that is with an adult dog and not a puppy. The attention span on this baby is extremely short and training session should be no more than 10 minutes and twice a day. Additionally, there isn t going to be much learned if you will only be training for 5 days. Obedience training is cumulative and is done over a much longer period of at least several weeks to several months.
What you can charge is determined by your experience, reputation, and accomplishments and in a case like this, should also include guaranteed expectations. Just working with dogs over several years, is not the experience that is necessary to be a dog trainer. There are too many people who are putting that title to their name and fleecing the public. Don t be one of them.
