Our family (living in Los Angeles) will be spending time in New York during Christmas. But I have 2 cats I'm worried about. So where should I put them? Is the Pasadena Humane Society a good idea? I went on their website, but nowhere does it say "temporary shelters" or something. Tip please?

I think He jumped off th bed yesterday and he is over weight. He can walk and move his paw but very gently. I wonder how long it takes to get healed.

Okay so I have a 3 year old female calico named Jasmine. She's never been sick before and yesterday I noticed she was being very lazy and wasn't keeping herself clean like she usually does. She has been laying around ever since and I noticed her eyes were runny too. I was recently sick and I was wondering if human colds could be carried to a pet too? She is still eating and drinking well and today she was up walking around so I doubt it's anything serious. But, I want to check because if she's not better by Monday, I will be taking her to the vets, THANKS to all who answer!

Awhile back, I heard what sounded like a child singing outside(kind of a monotone "ne ne ne ne ne ne ne" sound), but when I looked out the window, I was surprised to see that it was actually a cat. He had his head bowed, and a circle of other cats had formed around him with the same somber expression and stance. What does this mean? This was not your typical "mating call".

I was in a car accident on Wednesday, and I came home briefly on Thursday, and now I am home, but "Mommy" is gone (just not in the house), what can I do to stop my kitten from crying? My 8 yr old is fine, but my kitten is in need of constant attention. Have you ever had a kitten with razor claws climb your legs, or insert then in ...sensitive areas? Jeans are not enough.

She is 2 years old and has been left home alone for 4 days before and numerous weekends. I'm just wondering if anyone thinks 6 days is too long. She's not a cat that will eat all of her food at once and she usually has food left when we return.

I have a 6 month old male cat and he has been acting CRAZY for a few weeks now.... I havent gotten him fixed yet, but i am thinking that maybe his erratic behavior is from him being in heat... he whines and cries like nothing I have ever heard before!! He has been flying around my apartment like he has a bottle rocket up his butt, clawing the crap out of my furniture and running up and down the stairs. Does this sound like a symptom of him just being in heat or could it possibly be somthing else.....? If it is just that he is wanting a little female action, is there something i can do to help calm him down?

I've noticed I'm much more allergic to some cats than others. Is there any guideline to this? I've heard long haired cats are better than short for people with allergies, though you would think it would be the other way. Is there anyway to tell by looking how much dander a cat may have?

Sorry if this is a ridiculous question, I would love a cat but I'm somewhat allergic. I'm trying to explain to my mother that I can just hang out with a cat for a bit to see whether I'm not as allergic to it or not, but she just laughs at me.

My poor Cat tinkerbell has fleas and I have tried all sorts of treatments but nothing seems to work, do you think if I shaved her it might help, or should I take her to the Vet?

I was told it was from a wound, and it could either be drained by a vet, or can pop on it's own. I would like to know how safe it is to allow it to pop on it's own, or any other information you may know about the condition as a whole.

I have 2 cats whom i've had for years. I recently purchased a home with dogs on both sides of me. I frontline both cats once monthly and have sprayed the interior of my home a number of times using indoor/outdoor pest sprays.

Clearly this isn't working for me. Does anyone know of any good tricks or sprays? Thank you so much for your help!

Our family has a cat who tears paper into tiny pieces with her teeth. Her behavior has recently gotten worse and last week she shredded my daughter's choir music and has slowly but surely been dismantling the cardboard cat scratchers we have around the house. We don't really know how to get this to stop and our main worry now is that she may be eating some of the paper (although she seems to be spitting most of it out). Does anyone know if paper shredding may be a dangerous habit that could cause her harm? Any ideas on how to get her to stop?

I have the strangest cat in the world!

He's a six month old kitten called Merlin and these are some of the things he tries to eat:

Dog food (what our elderly Jack Russell leaves over)
Baby Food (what my 11 month old son leaves over)
Pizza
Broccoli
Bread and Butter
Porridge
Yoghurt
Cake
Apple

I have never known a cat like this before!!! Why does he do it? He's not hungry as he gets two good meals of cat food a day, but he still tries to eat anything he can get hold of!

I am just curious.

How many cats do you have AND how did they come into your life?

Obviously, if you do not have any cats then there is no reason to answer "none". Thanks.

I used some Hartz flea spray on my cats, and they started crying and running around like maniacs. So I wiped off their necks with cool tap water, and stopped using the product. Later, I heard Hartz flea products are dangerous. Is this true?

I am about to volunteer to take on 2 orphaned kittens.....they could have anything. Earmites, fleas, whatever. I have a 16 month old baby and a 5 year old pit bull (who loves kittens btw) I have done this before. But it was before I had my son. I just need help making up my mind. Can they transfer any illnesses or anything to my son or dog? I am keeping them in a separate room. Should I do it or not...what would you do?

I have has animals my whole life but recently rescued a 4 week old kitten from a bad situation. I have treated her with a flea treatment that goes on the back of the neck but 3 days later she is still infested with fleas. I have changed her bedding etc. Im thinking the only other way is to wash her in a flea bath but as shes so small Im worried it will make her sick.

Can anyone help!?
