Okay so I have a 3 year old female calico named Jasmine. She's never been sick before and yesterday I noticed she was being very lazy and wasn't keeping herself clean like she usually does. She has been laying around ever since and I noticed her eyes were runny too. I was recently sick and I was wondering if human colds could be carried to a pet too? She is still eating and drinking well and today she was up walking around so I doubt it's anything serious. But, I want to check because if she's not better by Monday, I will be taking her to the vets, THANKS to all who answer!

Thanks so far to all who answered! I was just giving her some chicken a few minutes ago and she got perky when she saw I had it. I also have another cat named Bella. She's older and I adopted her a month ago, she was a stray. She's perfectly fine, so I hope it's not something contagious and Bella will get it too. I'm curious if maybe she gave something to Jasmine?

No. Viruses are generally not zoonotic.

Yes, please take kitty Jasmine to the vet if she is not feeling well.

Sounds like she may be a bit dehydrated. In the wild cats natural prey tends to be around 75% water and thus they get much of their water from there, and they have a naturally low thirst reflex. So it's easy for a house cat to become dehydrated, and more so if you feed your cat dry food. Make sure she has plenty of fresh water. Also, watering eyes in a cat tends to be a flag, so I would still take her to the vet just in case.

Cats, like humans, catch colds and get sick and recover. The viruses that cause their colds are not the same as the ones that cause human colds.
I don't see this in dogs, but I do in cats. If a dog acts that way, I'm worried. If a cat acts this way, I don't worry unless it lasts to long. So far, none of my cats have had respiratory symptoms for long.

No, you can't make your cat sick with having a cold. She might just have an off-day. As long as she eats and drinks and walks around I wouldn't worry too much. Good luck with it.

Human illnesses cannot be transferred to cats, and vice versa. Differing immune systems and physiological systems mean different viruses. Take the cat to the vet if she does not return to her normal self.

call your vet and describe the cat's symptoms. It could be a form of the cat flu. This is highly contagious, and it could have been brought in to your home on your shoes, clothing, other cats...

Cats, like us, get "under the weather" from time to time. No need to run her to the vet, unless she is vomiting repeatedly, etc. My guys get sick from time to time, feverish, not eating, sleeping more than usual, etc.
It shouldn't last more than a few days, and it sounds like she is already feeling better.
