Cats instinctively use the litter box because it is like sand or dirt, where they like to pee when outside.
If the cat isn't using the litter box, she probably has a bladder infection. You can take it to the vet and/or dose it with 500mg ascorbic acid (cheap vitamin C; the expensive kinds don't work for this) twice a day. The infection should be gone in a few days.
If the cat still pees outside the litter box, then she doesn't just have an infection, she has bladder crystals. You need to continue the ascorbic acid, and make her drink more water. One way to do this is to feed her a sort of soup made by mixing half canned cat food and half water, with a little salt added. This is a chronic problem and can take months to eliminate, and it may come back again, so you have to learn all you can about cat bladder problems.
