They will grow back and he will be just fine. My daughter did that to a cat when she was younger and there were no ill effects for the cat.

The whiskers are like a sensory for cats, they use them to feel around in the dark and balance and stuff like that. The whiskers tell them if they can fit through a space - generally speaking if the whiskers will fit so will the rest of the cat's body. Don't trim them.

I'm sure your cat will forgive you, and it is alright to make a mistake. Just don't trim them again in the future. Cats' whiskers are necessary sensory devices that are very important in their ability to sense electrical signals in the air, to feel their way around at night (believe it or not, cats CANNOT see in pitch darkness), and to detect whether or not an animal or human is friendly or dangerous. Your furry pal isn't angry with you, so don't sweat it too much. Just keep those clippers on the hair next time.

It won't have done him any harm. But don't do it again - cats need their whiskers. They stretch out to the same width as the cat's body, and allow a cat to judge distances of small gaps and generally find his way around.

My cat likes to get in small spaces, he's a big guy. He needs his whiskers to know if he can fit into the small spaces.

He'll be fine. Worst case his balance/perception wont be as good for a while. they do grow back, but now the way our hair grows back. Half an inch isnt much anyways

I would think they would grow back, but not sure. He'll be fine, but in the future, don't cut their whiskers.
