I am getting a new kitten, and I want to try using that Swheat Scoop litter - I don't like litter dust, and I like that this is natural stuff. However, I have heard it can be messy as far as clumping goes...if I don't like it, and I want to change to a cheaper clumping brand, is it really a big deal? Or can I just put the new litter in the box and let him go about his business as usual? Just wondering what others have experienced here... I don't want to have him pooping around the house because he doesn't like the new litter! Although my mom has never had problems with her cats & changing litter.....should I be worried?

I have a 3 y.o. male cat, neutered. This summer we found a female kitten, at the beginning he beat her up, she just loved him, after a month they were in love, they sleep together, lick each other etc. After that, we rescued another female kitten. She is very sweet to us, but she is rather afraid of the male cat and he doesn't particularly like her, usually chases her around, but there is no danger of a serious fight.
The problem is, ever since the new cat has been here, my old cat is sleepy all day, he doesn't even sleep with me any more, he doesn't want to cuddle with me and he doesn't purr, he doesn't play with his toys, he doesn't even run to eat, he waits for the kittens to eat and he prefers to eat separately from them, because they steal his food and he does nothing to stop them. What can I do to make him feel better? He is not sick, he's been to the vet. I don't hug the kittens in front of him, and i am very sweet to him but he avoids me.

Sagwa is an orange domestic tabby. She weighed 8lbs when she went to the vet and he said she is on the skinny side but he wasnt concernd about it. She looks too skinny to me though. She is fed two to three cans of food a day but she doesnt seem to gain weight. Are some cats just skinny or should i find Sagwa another vet?

I was a little late in getting my cat to the vet for his rabies vaccine. (Less than 3 weeks) He cut his paw, which got infected. I took him to the vet, (less than 3 weeks past his rabies due date) and the vet says that because no one witnessed him getting hurt, and we don't know if he was attacked (which I highly doubt, it's an obvious slice on his paw pad...must have been from jumping over the fence) they can't give him the vaccine for 5 months! During which time I have to have him quarentined in the house!! I'm finding this frustrating. isn't there any overlap with the time of the shot? Does the protection end on the 366th day after the last shot? (BTY, his last rabies shot was actually 6 weeks early!) Does anyone know if there is a chance the cat was still protected? Or are these vaccines only good for 365 days? Five months is a very long time to keep our very active outside cat inside!!

Im going out of town for two weeks and my husband has to feed the cat. The problem is he cant stand the smell of the wet food so I need to get some dry food. Whats a good brand for my cat to eat since she is used to the wet food?

My cat got loose a week ago and we finally caught him. He had a massive amount of fleas on him. They were ringed densely around his eyes. There had to be in the range of 100 to 200 just around his eyes, it was disturbing! They are really dug into the skin. I gave him a bath but they didn't come off and I can't tell if they died or not. I tried my best to wash him but it was hard to handle him and not get soap in his eyes.

What should I do and will these fleas come off or what?

I'm zipping around the house cleaning, doing laundry etc, etc. My cats are following me all over.(They do this a lot, they're clingy sometimes) Then while I'm in the kitchen at the sink, I turn around and my boy kittie is sitting on the island counter staring at me. He goes "MEOW"!! real loud. I know what he wants. So I go up to him, I cup his sweet face in my hands, we're eye to eye about an inch from each other. And I say "Sorry son, no wet food today". (he gets it only once a week) He wiggles away from me yells MEOW! again. Then jumps off the counter, bites my ankle (not hard) and runs to the bedroom under the bed!! I haven't seen him for about an hour now! Ha!! And to think some people think cats are dumb!! I swear mine understand human english!!!

Ok we're due to collect our new kittens in a few weeks and we're looking for names. They are brother and sister. The girl is a blacky tabby and the boy is cream.
I like the idea of calling animals human names, this is easy with a boy but difficult with girls names.
Please reply with your suggestions, thanks.

Other strange behaviour includes pacing up and down infront of my pc when I'm on it(obviously attention seeking) but when I show her some affection(which is often as I love the little furball) she just hisses and bites me.

Could she be stressed due to harrasment from the big Tom cats in the area and if so could I get her some medication from the vet to chill her out?

My 6 mo. old kitten was spayed yesterday, after we brought her home she was of course drugged up. After 5-6 hours it seems like it totally wore off and she was back to running around, chasing my feet, trying to jump on things, etc.

I blocked off a lot of things that I think would hurt her or she could get into,
and I know she isn't suppose to jump-but of course being a cat she doesnt listen =)

She isn't jumping on anything very high, but Im afraid of leaving her alone and her stitches breaking or something.

Suggestions?
Has anyone elses kitten gone right back to normal behavior hours after being spayed?

I just found out that my cat has flea. I have another dog in the same house and they do have some contact for the past week. I am wondering how can I clean the house to get rid of all the flea? The cat sleeps in the sofa usually, and before I found out he has flea he used to sleep on my bed for few hours. I dont have carpet just hard wood floor and my livng room is together with the open kitchen. So do I just wash everything or have to buy some spray to kill the flea around the living and my bedroom?

since last winter. Now with the cold weather I would like to bring him back inside. Will he have fleas on him or will they be dead because of being outside in the weather? I dont have fleas in my home now and would really like not to drag them in. And bathing this cat is not an option... Hes mean.

Not a day goes by when our cat seems to have a choking fit! We did take him to the vet and was given some pills for a virus problem that is apparently quite common in cats. We have diligently given the medication, but he is still having this problem.

We think it is distressing to him, because he likes to be close to us when he is having this fit!

Otherwise, he seems normal; just likes to eat too much; his toilet is normal etc, except for this choking he gets.

I have tried to search out the answer myself, but have not had much success, plus going back to the vet to be yet again fobbed off is not cost effective - unless, we have some insight into the problem.

Can someone help?

My cat has only just recently got herself into a fight with another cat. She's de-sexed so that isn't a health worry but she has had a chunk of hair from her tail removed during the fight and it has left a small bleeding wound. It isn't deep, it's mainly just a surface graze of a couple of millimetres but i'm worried about how i should stop it from infection and manage it so my cat is comfortable. Being a cat, she also likes to scratch and in some cases she manages to peel the scab off and it bleeds again!
I will go to the vet if necessary but how can i manage it on my own?

my cat is about 4 years old. He was happy all day today, jumping around, just as usual. At night we washed him
and he was licking himself. We dont know exactly when after that but he was laying on the ground and i noticed
that he was laying with his eyes open and he never sleeps like that, i tried to pet him but no rsponse. My husband
did CPR (he is a nurse) and tried himlich manuvere and so on, nothing. The cat had really bad smelling feces, and then there
was blood out of his mouth and he pooped more while he was doing cpr on him.

Does anyone know waht could be wrong? We have another cat and well i am pregnant too so that is another problem
for taxoplosmosis.

In terms of cat food it was whiskies before and about a week ago we changed to innova both wet and dry and sometimes
we give him friskies wet too. We also have a drinking fountain thingy.

I just want to know what it could be incase it is contageous for our other kitty.

I have a semi-feral cat that lives in my yard, and I feed it everyday. I make sure not to leave food out for fear of rodents and whatnot. However, I still see the possum around on my back porch, and I want to get rid of it. I'm just worried about harming or driving away the cat as well. What can be done?

My cat is about 6 mos old. I have been feeding him regular cat food all along. I have an adult cat, and it is easier to feed
them the same thing. I am wondering if I am compromising his
growth by feeding him adult cat food. Thanks.
