Cats - November 2007

[Selected]: All categories Pets Cats

The neighbors next door have three cats that constantly go on my car, leave footprints (and scratches!) and sometimes even poop in the garage. I have spoken to said neighbors and they've done nothing. I purchased a spray to keep the cats away and it appears to work for a few hours then the cats just begin again within hours. It becomes quite expensive for me to keep doing this. I'm stumped on what to do.

I have been feeding a stray cat and noticed that it seems sick, and has blood in it's feces. WHat is wrong with it?

She had her leg amputated on Weds and of course they had to stitch her up.. Well, she was doing great (bit at the stitches once) and I got an E-collar just in case, then last night she started biting again, before I could get home today to put some bitter spray around the stitches, she had one a little bit pulled, and there is some blood/gaping... Its sunday night, and not really a "vet emergency" what should I do? (i have the e-collar on, but what to do bout the stitches?)

I've just received a kitten that seems to be at the most 2 months old or so (She is quite big, Siamese cat by the way that is still white) and She has been hiding under my Bed for almost the whole day. She hasn't eaten, but she does have an attraction for me. I've tried many things to bring her out, food and stuff. She seems relaxed under there after she got home but hasn't come out.

What will make her come out?

My dog has been attacked by my sisters cat today for no apparent reason. My dog was just sitting next to me while watching tv and the cat came out of no where and started scratching his face. He was also attacked on thanks giving and my dog didnt even fight back yet the cat keeps attacking him. What could be causing the cat to attack my dog and how can I stop it?

earlier, i posted a question asking what i should do about this skinny (poss. stray) cat in my back yard.

well, ive decided to leave food out for her, to try to gain her trust. she is still out there, she finished the tuna i put out there.

i believe its a "her" because i saw her belly, and it wasnt a guy

she doesnt have tags on. and she didnt run, but is still shy.

i put water out for her too, but i was wondering if i should go out and buy cat food (i dont own cats anymore), or what else should i feed to her?

I have a 12-week old kitten who over the last several days has been pooping soft stools. It isn't quite diahrrhea - they are formed when they come out but as soon as you touch them they turn mushy (sorry, but that is the only way to describe them!). My kitten has always had a little bit softer stools than his brother but these have just seemed a bit softer still. I've taken him to the vet, he has no worms or parasites and is just getting over an eye infection (he was on terramycin). Should I be very worried about this? He is completely normal in all other aspects: super playful, sleeps well, eats normally, drinks a lot of water and does not make any sort of strainful noises when in the bathroom....just the soft stool. Help!

I will fit the new cat door on the box so she will have to use it to come out for dinner! Then when the door is fitted to the house she will have less problem operating it. Had her 3 weeks now she has been in the garden on a long lead and knows her way back. Plan to let her out on her own next week

I went in to his room to say goodnight and i noticed something in his fur. It was brownish and i thought he had scratched himself and gotten a scab. So i looked and it was a bug and it crawled away before i could get it but there's like bug **** in his fur. And i was just giving him a bath and i was combing out his fur and i found another. Could it be lice? or maybe fleas? I don't really remember what lice looks like and i've never seen a flea. He also has ring worm on top of that. Should i took him to a vet immediately? or could i wait a few days? i love him more than anything and i'm really worried. Ever since we got him in 2003 he's had medical problems. He's only 5 and i don't want to loose him. My mom keeps threatening to give him away. He has had ring worm twice and now this. And on top of that he shits and pees all over the house. He gets stressed very easily and i don't want to have to give him up and make him more stressed. He had 7 homes before we got him in only 1 year.

I saw a stray cat outside and felt bad for it, so I gave it a few kitty treats. It walked over to me and I pet its face. It enjoyed the attention, so I pet it for a while and then I noticed its tail. Its tail was cut at the middle and it was basically dead from there down. It scared me, so I gave it some treats and went inside.
My mother said that I could get a disease or give my indoor cat a disease for touching that cat, so I changed my clothes and put the dirty ones in the wash. Then I washed my hands and put on Germ-X. I washed my hair and washed my hands again.
Am I free from getting any diseases or transferring them to my cat?
P.S. I tried to call Animal Control, but the cat was gone when I checked the yard and I couldn't find it anywhere.
