Is she rubbing up against things and showing her rear to anything and anyone also? Sounds like she maybe indeed in heat. Do not let her out obviously try to give her attention when able and pretty much let the phase end. When able you should get her fixed if at all possible. So you don't have to worry about it again next time.

You really can't do anything if she is in heat. Usually, when she is in heat, the sounds coming out of her are sounds that you would never expect to hear. Otherwise, simply meowing a lot if not a definite sign. Four months is about the earliest a kitten will go into heat, but usually around 5-6 months.

She should be receiving vet care, for vaccinations, so your vet can provide guidance, and schedule a spaying.

If your "kitten" is at least 5 months old, she probably IS in heat. There's nothing you can do for her, except give her a lot of attention. This "caterwalling" will go on constantly for about 10 days, or so, then she'll quiet down for a couple of weeks. If she doesn't get spayed, she'll have another "heat" period sooner, rather than later......like monthly!! So, if you don't plan to raise kittens, call your vet and ask how soon he/she'll be willing to spay your cat. Some vets will spay during a heat cycle, and some won't. Doesn't cost anything to ask, though. Good luck......................

GET HER FIXED!! You won't have to listen to it & she will be happier. Some vets. do charge more when the cat is in heat & some won't do it , but it is a sure solution. Crying goes along with being in heat, it is a normal, healthy symptom. Fixing her will stop the crying, & will also help with her roaming instincts, & keep the Tom cats at bay. You can get her shots at the same time & be sure to get all of them. Good luck.

There are two options:

1.Gently rub a q-tip on her vulva. (Seriously, that's what my animal health teacher said!)

2. Get her spayed.

( I vote for #2.)

There is nothing you can do. Should have gotten her fixed....for her health and your sanity. Call a vet.
