Changing food would probably help and its possible another litter would work better. Feed a high quality food - Innova, Felidae. or California Natural - fewer fillers etc. that would cause this problem (my neighbor feeds Fancy Feast crap and her cat has the worst gas!!!). I also use a silicone bead type litter and the box does not smell.

What comes out is directly conncted to what you feed the cat. Any foods with fish in them make for smellier litter boxes.
Even with awful smelling poop you can still keep the litter box smelling ok - just scoop the stuff out of the box as soon as you see it's there, and put it in a plastic type bag. I use an old cat food bag, the top folds over and whatever I put in it gets dumped into the garbage outside once a day.

Get the cat fixed, get it on a regular diet (it's been my experience that cheap or expensive food doesn't matter, as long as the cat gets used to it), and keep in mind that oftentimes kittens who have just been weaned have terrible odors as their systems adjust from mothers' milk to regular food. Give it a few months, and if the smell doesn't improve, talk to the vet about other possible causes of the problem.

Get that cat some Good quality food, cheap food makes for you know what, iiams, science diet, and the vet clinics sell the good stuff, remember.... you are what you eat and that applies to cats too.. that store brand food is nothing but garbage and animal meat scraps and who knows what kind of animal and what part of it... pop for the good stuff, after they are regulated on a proper healthy diet, they shed less, eat less, and poo less... their skin is moist and their fur will be shiny and sleek.. good luck..

I have owned many cats, and from time to time, they all have to "clear the air". Lol. And when they do, better bring out those gas masks. I have not smelled a rosy one, yet. :D
