I went in to his room to say goodnight and i noticed something in his fur. It was brownish and i thought he had scratched himself and gotten a scab. So i looked and it was a bug and it crawled away before i could get it but there's like bug **** in his fur. And i was just giving him a bath and i was combing out his fur and i found another. Could it be lice? or maybe fleas? I don't really remember what lice looks like and i've never seen a flea. He also has ring worm on top of that. Should i took him to a vet immediately? or could i wait a few days? i love him more than anything and i'm really worried. Ever since we got him in 2003 he's had medical problems. He's only 5 and i don't want to loose him. My mom keeps threatening to give him away. He has had ring worm twice and now this. And on top of that he shits and pees all over the house. He gets stressed very easily and i don't want to have to give him up and make him more stressed. He had 7 homes before we got him in only 1 year.

Yeah i told my dad and he keeps saying he doesn't see any bugs but i have seen 3 so far.
And if he does have lice, could it get on us? I've already had it once and i don't want it again.

How would he have gotten fleas? He's not an out door cat and i don't go around other cats.
Could it be from a dirty litter box?
His litter box was really dirty and i had forgotten to clean it before i left and i was gone all day a few days ago.

Most likely fleas. You have to tell someone so you can treat for them of they will get TOTALLY out of control and infest the house!!!!!!

use frontline or revolution. you can get it from the vet or online. but dont use grocery store flea meds, they just simply are not very effective and can cause seizures in pets. that should take care of the problem. continue treating your kitty for at least 3 months and the problem should be complety gone. however, if fleas are still present after about 3 months, consider a 'flea bomb' for the entire house. the fleas could be infested in your carpet. dogs and cats do not get lice. and you cant get fleas from your pet. keep the litter clean and fresh, keep using the same kind of litter, dont suddenly change it, and maybe add a couple more boxes to the household and maybe the bathroom problems will get better.

It sounds like you're describing fleas. Even though your cat is indoors only, fleas can come into your house on you. They hitch a ride on your socks, pants, etc... Get some Advantage for him. Frontline also treats fleas, but also treats ticks. If he's indoors he's not likely to pick up any ticks. Advantage is great for fleas. (Over the counter treatments can be toxic to cats and hurt him. Flea collars aren't effective, and are a waste of money.) If he has ringworm, make sure that you continue treatment for that. It can be spread to humans and other animals. If he's having this many problems, take the little guy to the vet. The vet will be able to help you get him healthy and happy.

It's fleas, not lice. Fleas are brown colored until they suck a lot of blood, then they are red colored (and plump). Do as the previous answers suggested. A flea bath is the first thing you need to do.

Fleas do transmit other things, like tapeworm, so you want to eliminate them as soon as possible. Then do something about preventing the fleas from returning.

I'm sorry, but your big problem is not the fleas on you cat,(which he has not lice) it is that he pees and shits in your parents house. If he was mine, I would have given him away a long time ago.

chances are, your cat has flea's. regardless of whether or not the cat goes outside - it will still get flea's. i have an inside cat and she has always had a few flea's - even though i keep FRONTLINE on her. if you are still unsure about the "lice" - just call your vet. they will be happy to answer your questions.

Wear gloves and check his fur with a fine toothed comb, if you are able to see anymore of the bugs pit it in a jar and compare it to pictures of of fleas online. If it is fleas most pets stores sell flea powder/shampoo also have him wear a flea collar.
