That is completely normal to a cat. Cats like to get used to their surroundings, so give her space and make sure the area she is in is fairly small. Cats are curious and she will explore the area. Just leave food and some water in her small room or area and leave her alone to get used to her new home. She will be out and happy in no time!! Have a great time with your new pet!!

Put food, water, and a litter pan in the room and then .....LEAVE HER ALONE! If you have to be in the room, just talk quietly to her, and maybe sit down on the floor and read, watch tv, or just watch her under the bed. You may have to do this for a few days, but ....don't try to force her to come out. When you see that she's using the litter pan (even in the middle of the night), and eating her food, you'll know she's ok. Just GIVE HER TIME to get used to her new surroundings, smells, noises, people. Eventually, she'll make the first move. It make be just sticking her nose out to see where you are, and what you're doing. If that happens, don't jump at her or make a loud noise. That will set everything back, and she'll have to start over. Just speak quietly to her and maybe "rustle" some paper.....cats LOVE to attack paper, especially if you're trying to read it, or write on it!! Good luck with her......PATIENCE is the "name of the game".

It's normal, don't worry. She's just shy, and all cats deal with being scared of a new environment differantly. Soon She'll be running all over and you will wish she was still relaxed under the bed! lol. You could try taping a feather to a string and drag it around, she might follow it around. But just let her relax for a while, She'll come out when she gets hungry/bored.
Good luck!

It's common for a new cat (kitten or adult) to be scared and find a hiding place in its new surroundings. I've found that isolating them to one room is usually the best. Make sure she has food, fresh water, some toys, and a litter box and allow her to get used to that one room first. When she is comfortable with that room (approx. one week), you can slowly introduce her to the rest of the house. She just needs to learn that her surroundings are safe and that there is no need to be scared. It will take some time, but she'll come around.

She's a little overwhelmed and feels safe under the bed. She'll come out when she's ready. Keep a litter box, food, and water in the room for her until she starts to venture out. Be patient with her. You could also try a Feliway plug-in. It has pheromones that help keep her calm and feel safe. It worked great for my cats. You can get one at Petco or any of the larger pet stores.
