Other strange behaviour includes pacing up and down infront of my pc when I'm on it(obviously attention seeking) but when I show her some affection(which is often as I love the little furball) she just hisses and bites me.
Could she be stressed due to harrasment from the big Tom cats in the area and if so could I get her some medication from the vet to chill her out?

She's been spayed but does that stop the urge or just stop me from getting a flat full of kittens

Either use cable trunking to hide the wires or smear them with menthol or eucalyptus oil. Cats hate the smell and it will put her off wanting to get close to them.
She might be feeling stressed because of the tom cats, and that would make her grumpy. Try using a Feliway plug-in diffuser as they emit an aroma that cats find comforting. You need to use it for at least 3 weeks before you'll begin to see the benefits. A lot of people have success using Bach Flower Remedies to help stressed cats. The link below will tell you which ones to use and how to administer them.

You know your cat better than anyone, and if you believe there's been a distinct change in her behaviour recently, then I think it's worth taking her to the vet for a check up. Unless she's normally short tempered, hissing and biting could be a sign that she's in pain. It sounds like she's trying to tell you something is wrong, you just need to figure out what it is so that you can help her.
Hope she's feeling happier soon.

If she has been spayed Elric she would not be 'on heat' and would not get any urges in that direction. If she hisses and bites you when you are affectionate it could be that you are touching something on her that is hurting. I suggest you do a check of her. Failing nothing obvious I do think she is trying to tell you that there is something wrong so a visit to the vet might be your best option. Good luck Elric as I know you love her, I love cats too but lost my little love just before last Christmas. Let us know how you get on with her.

I don't know about the biting and the big tom cats but chewing the electrical wires is probably just a bad habit. Try giving her another habit like playing with some string or try to hide the wires. Hope this helps =)

HI
This could be a eating disorder called "pica". It is quite unusual and it is used to describe a group of eating disorders where cats almost become addicted to eating non food items. There is no cure apart from tying to amke the items that the cat is trying to eat nasty like spraying lemon juice on it or covering it so that the cat cannot get to it.
See the below link for some more information about Pica

Take her,or call the PDSA to have a look at her teeth. She may have a fish bone stuck or a tooth abscess like mine did. The vet is often very expensive but the PDSA will treat her and you make a donation to their charity. Crush 1/2 an aspirin in her food for now for the pain

if she isn't spayed i would highly recommend that. it could curb some of the behavioral issues she is having. also if she is biting wires you can buy that tubing that you use for fish tanks and wrap you wires in that. i hear it helps for rabbit proofing a home. but alot of factors depend on her age and how long you've had her and how much attention she gets. it could just be a phase. but you should consider a vet if she has been doing this for a while or she doesn't quit. hope this helps.

A cardboard tube can be used to hide the cords temporarily. Your cat could be having a teething problem, but hitting it won't solve the problem. Try using a spray bottle and spritzing her. Cats don't generally like being sprayed with water, but it won't hurt them. Sometimes they're just bratty and will usually get over it in time. Good luck.

Keep her inside. If she hasn't been already, spay her.
She probably is stressing from being harassed.
Now, I used to have trouble with my cats trying to chew on computer cables and electrical cords. It is possible to train them to not do that, but you have to punish them while they're doing it.
Good luck.

kick its a-s when you see it biting wires catch it and show it the wires then give it a slap and shout at it I know it sounds bad but it works and your cat will live longer for it if not put up with a fried cat its one or the other and get her neutered her behaviour will be less violent towards you she will be more chilled after she is done
