Hubby may have to suck it up.
Cats may not tolerate sudden changes in their diet, particularly when it comes to changes in texture. You may get lucky but I recommend introducing some dry now to see how it goes over. But if he won't go for it your husband really will have to give in. The worst thing to do would be to try to starve a cat into submission. It won't work and you'll end up with a sick and possibly eventually dead cat.
I recommend Innova Evo, Wellness Core or Nature's Variety Instincts. They are pricier than grocery store crap but that's because they are better foods. They're grainless and use good quality ingredients.
For the record, Science Diet and Iams are Pure-D crap. You'd be just as well off feeding Meow Mix as one of those. But don't feed Meow Mix either!
And for the other record, DRY FOOD DOESN'T CLEAN THE TEETH. This is addressed to those who insist upon perpetuating that myth. Good for YOU for feeding canned food. That's the way to go.

Whoa switching from wet to dry immediately is a bad idea. I suggest a tempering effect. Start by given the cat 2/3 of the wet and a small 1/3 of the dry mixed in for a week. Then go down to 1/2 wet and 1/2 dry for the next week. Follow the third week with 1/3 wet and 2/3 dry. Finally go for all dry. If this is too long a schedule then try it on a three days cycle for each stage listed above. And once get the cat onto all dry leave it and donate the wet canned food to an animal shelter.

Good dry food doesn't use a lot of by-products, has two meat sources in the first 4 ingredients, and doesn't use corn.
Try Royal Canin Siamese 38, Wysong Vitality (silver bag), Wellness, Predator, possibly Chicken Soup for the Cat Lovers Soul.

I agree with RuneAmok. I have used Innova Evo and Wellness Core and my cats love it. They also like the Royal Canin Siamese. I must say, though, that the Core smells really rank!! My mom used to say that the worse it smells, the better they like it!
I also feed my cats mostly wet food. One is 18 and he gets whatever he wants to eat!
Don't try putting the dry food down figuring that she will eat it when she gets hungry. I had to put my 18 year old cat on a special kidney diet and he refused - ended up going to the hospital.

whatever you choose make sure the first 5 ingredients are all natural, no by products. they say that if you have a male cat that you should give them both dry and wet food, to much dry can lead to uti's (not 100% sure if this is true).
you can get some cheep all natural pureina cat food at wal-mart. i use to feed my cats science diet but thats really expensive.

Iams or Science diet are fairly good. Check the ash content and make sure it is low. This is the main cause of urinary tract problems in cats. It's low on Science diet and Iams. Purina and other commercial brands are high and full of sodium.
I'd tell your husband to get over it as far as the smell. Feed her more chicken and turkey then fish if he hates the smell. The salmon is just awful. Kirkland also makes a good product and it's cheap but you have to get it at COSTCO.

My cats do very well on Purina One Professional Chicken & Rice formula. Other dry catfood, such as Meow Mix or a cheaper brand, make them puke.

Nutro Max
You should be feeding your cats dry anyhow. Wet is bad for their teeth and digestion.
Now, dry stuff like Kit and Kaboodle and Fancy Feast is junk food for cats, its very high in ash content as well.
Science Diet is a good food, but some cats dont take to it quickly. The Nutro gourmet brand, they seem to like better.

science diet is a really good brand of cat food. it is a bit on the expensive side, but it's very good for cats. you can get it at petco, petsmart, or even your veterinarian. at mine you can at least.
