My cat has only just recently got herself into a fight with another cat. She's de-sexed so that isn't a health worry but she has had a chunk of hair from her tail removed during the fight and it has left a small bleeding wound. It isn't deep, it's mainly just a surface graze of a couple of millimetres but i'm worried about how i should stop it from infection and manage it so my cat is comfortable. Being a cat, she also likes to scratch and in some cases she manages to peel the scab off and it bleeds again!
I will go to the vet if necessary but how can i manage it on my own?

Firstly, a cats tongue is magical. What it does is amazing. It is
like a brush. ( has tiny hairs ) And is like a antiseptic. Taking the scab off is keeping from getting infected. And their saliva
cleans and acts to heal the wound. You can take it to a vet if
worried. LUCK

You should wrap it with a gauze and perhaps use some bacitracin to prevent infection. The cat licks it because it is itchy. Over the gause put adhesive tape and change this every 3 days or so because the cat will try to tear ir lick it off. Given 5 days things should be OK but visual inspection is best.

Keep you cat indoors. If you care for it you will not let it get into situations like this. An indoor cat is healthier, lives longer and will not bring instects like fleas into your house. An indoor cat cannot be injured by fighting or killed by cars. Be responsible. You kitty is domesticated, take care of it.

Hi
yes use a light antiseptic on the wound and if possible cover it. the problem is that cats carry a lot of bacteria in their mouths and if this wound is from a cat bite then it is likely that the wound is already infected and the cat will need some antibiotics from the vet.

Well kimmy, I think that's what you called yourself in the question "If i bought 2 kittens, can i keep them as house cats and never let them outside? or do cats need to go outside"
I think you should put some antibiotic ointment on it and keep your cat in the house.
