What you need is an IGR or Insect Growth Regulator. It will end the cycle. Go to Walmart and buy this product http://www.sergeants.com/products/detail.asp?pr_a=&pr_p=&pr_c=1&results=12&index=33 it is a powder that you put on the carpets. It has Nylar in it ..it is the best flea IGR you can get.

You also have to treat your pet i recommend this product. http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2752937&cp=2767033.2769013&pg=2&fbx=0&fbn=Taxonomy%7CShampoos+%26+Sprays&f=Taxonomy%2FPET%2F2769013&fbc=1&parentPage=family&keepsr=1 do not get the cheaper version.. you save a few bucks but this is the one that is very safe and works better than you can imagine(it also has nylar in it).

Next to keep them off you! Fleas hate lavender. I bought a small vial of lavender oil and added a few drops to a small spray bottle with about half and half water and rubbing alcohol..it will keep them off of you better than straight DEET. I have recomended this to many of my friends and family that have had problems with fleas .. 100 percent have told me that they are compleatly flea free within 2 weeks. GOOD LUCK

EEK i forgot one important detail. You need to sweep ALOT once or twice a day! BUT..fleas crawl out of your sweeper..so .what i did was to put a bit of that powder in a baggy and rubber band a ziplock baggy to the hose ..everyone i saw that was in the bag was DOA ..hope this helps

LOL one more thing ...if you use the products i mentioned you wont have this problem again for a year ..the powered controls fleas for up to one year ..(then i would recommend the front line from the vet ..because prevention is cheaper than getting rid of the darn things

Don't panic, they're easy to get rid of these days - so long as you don't waste any money on store-bought products! Flea products available in stores really are junk - stores aren't licensed to sell proper flea-killing chemicals, so their stuff doesn't work. Any story you hear of a cat being poisoned by flea treatments - it will be stuff bought from a store you're hearing about.

Get some proper flea treatment from a vets. The Veterinary spot-ons (Frontline, Advocate, Revolution and Advantage) are very effective at killing and preventing fleas, and are safe for your cat. Go and get some. You don't even need to take the cat in to pick up Frontline.

I use advantage and it's the best it kills the fleas and the hair that the cat loses also kills fleas for 30 days and all you have to do is put small tube of liquid on back of head where it can't be licked off and your set for a month.
