We live in a nice big house now and I wanna get a pet. But one that is pretty independant and clean. Any suggestion? I was thinking to get a cat but what about all that fur flying around everywhere? Some1 could get sick right?

Obviously I'm gonna take care of it! What kind of person would put 'animalover' as their name, and then buy a pet to match their furniture??? What you said really ticked me off. I used to have two rabbits and two parrots before, and they were perfectly healthy and strong. FYI I didn't treat them 'like furniture'.

People don't get sick from animal fur. It's the dander (dried skin) that some are allergic to. There's no self-maintaining pets - all require some degree of work on your part. To prevent excess shedding in your house a cat needs to be combed regularly and fed a quality diet. And litter pans need to be scooped daily and dumped out weekly.

You sound more like you're look for a piece of furniture than a pet. Are you going to take the time needed to care for it?

You could get sick if you are allergic start of with a small pet generally it will help you get used to daily feeding routine's and cleaning up after them etc. Like a guinea pig or hamster. Then later on you could get something like a cat or dog then you'll be prepared to look after them!

hmm.....You don't have to wash birds. But they are noisy, and with a big house, it will echo. Mostly all animals with fur shed, and if the house is big, I wouldn't worry about it getting everywhere. It's hardly noticable in a small house. Maybe keep the pet away from dark colored faberics.

Get a short haired cat, so there won't be a lot of fur flying around.
There will be some, of course, but you will barely notice it unless somebody is allergic to cats. If that's the case, don't get one.

There is enormous variation between the cat breeds when it comes to shedding. In my experience the best coats are on the Burmese and Siamese cats, they hardly shed at all.
