I have a 6 month old male cat and he has been acting CRAZY for a few weeks now.... I havent gotten him fixed yet, but i am thinking that maybe his erratic behavior is from him being in heat... he whines and cries like nothing I have ever heard before!! He has been flying around my apartment like he has a bottle rocket up his butt, clawing the crap out of my furniture and running up and down the stairs. Does this sound like a symptom of him just being in heat or could it possibly be somthing else.....? If it is just that he is wanting a little female action, is there something i can do to help calm him down?

When cats are in heat they spray.. Which smells really stinky but thats besides the point.. Your cat might be on Cat Nip, smells a female cat or just needs a companion.. :) Good Luck! And I thank God that hes not actually in heat

Male cats do not go into heat, just as male humans don't menstruate. Intact males are always capable of impregnating a female; females are only capable of being impregnated when in heat.

He may smell a female in heat in the area. Or, he could just be an adolescent cat. Cats often get very active and have bursts of energy, running around, crashing into things, climbing things, etc. These displays will usually last for anywhere from five to 15 minutes and may happen a couple of times a day. If your cat behaves this way for only a minute at a time but very often throughout the day, or for a prolonged period at once, he is most likely aware of a female. Get him neutered a.s.a.p. and this shouldn't be an issue any longer.

Well male cats don't go in heat, only females. There is probably a female in heat in your neighborhood. Give him something that is his to scratch, like an old rug hung over the spot he loves to scratch. But if you don't fix him it will get worse and he will start spraying your house. That can get very smelly. Good Luck! They do very cheap neuter programs in most towns, look into it. That would calm him a lot. Please don't declaw him. Give him his scratch area. and get spray bottle of water only to spray him when he scratches wrong area, or whining all night. It won't hurt him but will scare him. Good Luck! He is counting on you for a good life!

Male cats do not have heats. Neither do male dogs or male anything.

'Heats' are ovulation - the releasing of the female egg from the ovaries, when a female becomes receptive to mate. Male animals are ready to mate at any time.

I would think your cat is just being a normal mad cat. Please get him neutered asap, because his sole desire until then will be to get out of the house and find a mate.

They don't go into heat, they respond to females in heat and other males spraying the territory.

FIX him, that'll stop things. It'll still take a few weeks for his level of testosterone to go down, but he's no good to you this way anyway, so don't wait. Just get him neutered. "A little action" won't stop it and you'll then have to deal with a litter of kittens (since that's your responsibility now).

Male cats do not go into "heat".
There is something else that is causing his actions.
It may be something in the house or in the air.
How does he act when he is outside?
If he has been "declawed" that may be the answer as declawing sometimes cause cats to act like you describe.
I recommend that you phone your local vet clinic and describe the symptoms and ask them for advice.

Male cats can't go into heat. Only females. Fix him though because if he ever see's a female cat he could have kittens with her. He can't go into heat but try fixing him and he should be better. As soon as I got my cats I fixed, or spayed them.

male cats don't go into heat. it sounds like he is just being a kitten. GET YOUR KITTEN FIXED are you waiting for him to start spraying in your house once that starts, even getting him fixed may not stop him from spraying then you will be upset with him and take it out on him instead of yourselves for not getting him fixed. and the poor kitten is the one who has to suffer because of your not being responciable.
