Madeline is about 10 months old and she is a spayed indoor cat. We recently moved her up from the kitten-sized litter box to the normal, larger litter box because it seemed like it was time - her litter box was filling rather quickly and causing our tiny apartment to smell. However, even with the bigger box, it seems like she's defecating quite a lot.

It isn't runny or soft or an odd color, and she's not doing it in any strange places. She doesn't seem to be in any kind of pain, and she doesn't act like she's sick. She's been her completely normal, happy, loving self lately - except for the increased defecation. It seems like she's going often enough for me to fill 3/4 of a small plastic sandwich bag every day. Is this normal and I'm just being paranoid, or is this something I need to contact the vet about?

TIA!

I like cats just fine, but have never had one and know nothing about them. An apparently stray cat has decided my yard is now his, and shows up every few days for an indeterminate amount of time. He has no tags, does not seem to be agressive, and does not appear to be starving (he's average to slighlty overweight), making me assume he was either recently a housecat, is being fed by others, or is a decent hunter. I have not touched him, fed him or chased him off. Yesterday, he rolled onto his back behind my car, keeping me from backing out of my driveway. I'm starting to feel responsible for this animal, but what do I do with him? Do I trap him and take him to a shelter, feed him, chase him off, take his picture and try to contact his family (if he has one) or do something else?

She's 15 years old. She doesn't crouch when she pees, and I had to put a lid over the box or she'd wet the wall. Now she wets the back of the lid and it runs down onto the floor. I put newspaper under the box, but it smells. It's disgustiing to change the box and wash the lid all the time. I have had many cats in my life, and none of them did this.

She's been doing this all her life. Is she too old to teach better habits? How would I teach her, anyway?

I have had my neutered male cat for about 9 years. He is a big gray tabby and can be meaner than a rattlesnake. He always looks angry, fights with other cats, and seems down and depressed a lot. He has been to the vet numerous times for his regular shots and check up, and the ole doc says he seems healthy to him. Now he is very loyal to me and a couple of other people, but hates his roommate, the other orange tabby. Always bullying and picking on him, which makes the other guy nervous when he is around.

Is there something I can do to help brighten his mood up? He eats well and has some happier times, he likes to play a bit. He has chased 2 coyotes out of his yard up in the hills that killed half a dozen other neighborhood cats. Basically he is part lynx and his father I think was a pit bull, I don't know. Would anti-depressants help him?

This may sound silly, but I know how kitties get a little wacky on Cat nip, but what does it actually do to the cat? Is it like cat pot? (I guess if so...) Do they get the munchies? Or is it like how after you've been drinking you get a little crazy? It isn't bad for them, right?
OK, I know. 100 clueless questions. My kitten is too young to use it now, but I am just checking out info on it for when he gets older. I don't want to harm him in any way.
TIA for your answers! ;)

my kitten started a new thing with her dry food last night- scooping them one by one out of the plastic bowl, playing with them and eating them.

Is this a sign she doesnt like her bowl or was she just being extra playful?

Which is the best cat litter to buy? Dr. Rosenfeld on Foxnews said the kind with sodium bentonite is harmful and then somebody else said Feline Pine it toxic. Which is the best kind? I have no idea who to believe.

I am adopting a pregnant pure bred siamese, and am just curious. Apparently she has been seen with an orange tabby, and is getting large. She is coming to me next Monday. And yes she will be fixed after she has this litter. I am just trying to take her out of a bad situation. Thanks!

My mom had her cat since her and my dad got married. Lacey(cat) died about two years ago. She was about 22 years old. My mom wants a new cat but we have 2 Australian Shepherds a male and a female brother and sister. Last time I brought a cat home our male dog tried to bite him. When we had Lacey she could hold her own ground and give the dogs a run for their money. I would really want a cat. Should i just give a cat another try and if i do is there anyway I can get my dogs to not try to kill the cat.

We caught some weak kittens that were born under our deck and brought them inside. First we noticed one of them could not walk and was doing an army crawl type of thing. We gave a little milk and now it can walk but is unsteady. It now refuses to eat, and its eyes look unhealthy. What’s going on?
