Depends on the kind of dog and his personality.

contrary to popular belief, dogs and cats can and do get along just fine. my dog is best friends with my cat, they sleep, eat and play with each other. it is the natural instinct for a dog to chase and or capture small game or prey. so if the cat is smaller than the dog, he will chase it. it is all about how the cat and dog are introduced to one another and what training the dog has recieved. most dogs and cats living in a single household will only tolerate each other. they have to at least get along or stay out of each others way because they have no choice they live together. but most times they figure out their pecking order just fine on their own. especially if they are raised together as kittens and puppies, thats the easiest way to get them to grow up as friends.

Yes, dogs and cats usually get along fairly well, when living in the same household.... they come to realize the cat is a "family member" and are accepting.

At first, sometimes the animals might be afraid of each other, but with time, they will normally adjust well.

take care.

Nothing unusual in that - my 2 GSD's love my cats and they all sleep together. I have to protect the dog food from the cats because the dogs will just stand back and watch the cats eat it all if I leave them to it !

I use to live in a flat above a store. There where 5 flats all along the corridor. We would all leave our doors open and everyone's pet's would mingle. I have pictures of one of the neighbour's Rottweiler's and my cat snuggled up together in the middle of the hallway. On the other hand, my brother has a Doberman and he thinks cats are strictly for chasing, and when he manages to corner one, he never knows what to do. LOL.

After doing animal rescues for many years I have seen this happen several times. It seems to depend on the cat.

My doberman loved my cat. The cat and dog hating each other is a myth.
