We caught some weak kittens that were born under our deck and brought them inside. First we noticed one of them could not walk and was doing an army crawl type of thing. We gave a little milk and now it can walk but is unsteady. It now refuses to eat, and its eyes look unhealthy. What’s going on?

We are guessing the kittens are four to eight weeks old. Tell me if pictures would help.

We are trying to catch their mother. We used a cage with food inside as bait and a string that we can close from inside, but she just reached through the cage with her paw to eat the food.

Take the kittens to the vet asap! If you have the mother take her too it isn't good for them to be away from her.

how old are the kittens? if they are not weaned, you may need to bottle feed them or encourage them to take formula from a spoon.

you can get formula at a pet store. kittens need proper nutrition and regular milk won't do it.

you can also soak kitten chow (a very small amount) in a little warm water and mash it up, mix with some formula for added calories.. see if you can get them to eat from a spoon.

as far as the one kitten having eye issues and seeming unhealthy, well, i think they all need to see a vet...
there are a lot of upper respiratory problems which cats can get.

Well, when I first got my cat it had the same problem (but it didn't have a walking problem). It wouldn't eat, and it was very inactive. Then my vet told me that it had an illness, and if the illness didn't get taken care of it would die. I forgot how long it took to treat, but in the end my cat survived it. I'm not sure what the illness is exactly called though.

Poor babies!

It looks like either they were abandoned or something happened to their momma. So you are dealing with possible malnutrition and dehydration. Either of those would weaken a baby critter.

You may want to take them all to the vet: The one kitten, at least, might be sick.

Good luck!

take to the vet. it could be alot of things like internal injury or kidney failure. they will probably want to see all the kittens and get some blood work and there shots done.

Get your kitty to a vet, asap! It definitely has a health issue, and it's probably... well, it doens't good. :-(

Google "low cost vets philadelphia" or whatever your city is if money is an issue.

Good luck!!
