We just got this adorable tortie (multicolored/calico) kitten who is 4 months old. We haven't been able to come up with a good name for her, though! My husband and I would love to name her something to do with musical theatre, movies, religious names, or Disney, some things we love. She's really sweet , petite, and playful...any suggestions? I want something cute-sounding! Here's ones I've already used up on other past pets: Belle, Jasmine, April, Gizmo, Taz, Princess, Nala, Patches, Angel, Cadence, Tango, Sachi, Suzy Q, Tumnus. Help us name our little cutie!

Here's a pic:

I just lost a life long friend. My cat, Skippy had to be put down today due to liver cancer. I'm a wreck. I've got a brand new kitten, but its helping effects are not enough. How would you comfort your self? I'm sitting on my bed in tears. It happened two hours ago. I've had Skippy since I was two. Words cannont express the loss in my heart and the empty feeling that I am feeling when I get home and not see her laying there on my bed. I'm at a loss of words. I'm sorry I'm rambling on... but I needed to get that off my chest. How would you deal with the loss of a life long friend?

I just got a kitten, she is 6 weeks old. And she has diareah and she throws up a little. Why? She rubs her butt across the floor (yuck) and I know that is a sign of worms or irritaion. They only sell stuff for large roundworms. What to I do?

Had mine about a year now, he's perfectly healthy but i know your supposed to take them in for a yearly checkup & booster shots. I'm also wondering how important the booster shots are, i have heard they can make cats sick if they really don't need them. if he does HAVE to have shots, is just distemper enough? he is a strictly indoor only cat. also i know they do low-cost vaccinations at Petco, if i take him there do the vets give them a checkup too? I'm in Michigan BTW. thanks

My cat is strictly an indoor cat and I currently give her frontline flea medicine. my neighbor has two dogs that are outside much of the time. She's been getting lots of fleas that jump on her and die. I never find any that are alive but the flea dirt builds up very quickly and I think it may be upsetting her tummy. Anybody else have this issue and dealt with it before?

Everytime I go to the vet, I ask to see the kitties. They have a kill shelter and even though I am full (5 cats) I always go back to see. I also always end up sad. Today there was Mom and 4-2 day old babies set to be put down tomorrow. I know they have to do it but it's so sad. I wish I could help but I'm too full to even foster. Can it be said enough to spay your pets?

I just adopted two kittens from the animal shelter. The boy kitten is about 8 weeks old and is litterbox trained. However, he INSISTS on using the bathtub as a litterbox. He knows where the litterbox is kept and uses it when I put him in it, but if the bathroom door is open, he uses the tub instead. He also used the mop bucket once until I turned it upside down. A friend suggested placing the litterbox in the tub and gradually moving the box into another room. Will this work though? I don't want to give him the impression that it's okay to use the bathtub. How should I go about fixing this problem?

I have always used Revolution, but with four cats to care for now, it's getting a little expensive.

about four days ago, we rescued a kitty from the shelter. she was so cute and purred constantly and we fell in love. they said she is most likely an adult cat (about a year and a half) and other than that, they had no other information. we took her the day we adopted her to the vet. to get spayed and even the girls at the clinic commented on how sweet and gentle she was. the day of her surgery, she was obviously pretty mellow. but the day after she started getting super hissing and mean! we have three dogs and two other cats (ALL adopted from the shelter) and at first we thought maybe it was the intial "meeting" but now it has been three days and she STILL is SO mean. she swats and attacks all of the other animals and even us! she doesn't let us really pet her and if she does, it is only for a second and then she bites us! we have never had a problem like this with any other animals... i don't know what to do. and i am not going to just give her back to the shelter. any suggestions?

I'm planning to take my cats to a vet who's an hour's drive from here. How do I prevent them from pissing or pooing in my car during the trip? I wouldn't know if they did their business or not prior to our trip. thanks!

I was clipping my cat's nails yesterday and noticed a HUGE lump on her nipple and its BRIGHT red; also it had ulcerated(looks like puss and is leaking). I also noticed that it is very tender to the touch. She acts "ok" but she's just been laying around~~still eats... I was kind of just chalking the laying around part to her getting older b/c she wasn't "acting" like she wasn't feeling well. So, needless to say now I'm wondering if I should have noticed this sooner...?
I'm taking her to the vet this afternoon to see if it really is cancer or just a tumor/cyst. If the vet tells me its one of the final stages of cancer, I'm really torn as to what to do... She I put her out of her pain/misery or let her live out her life?
What would you guys do?

Do male cats go into heat? If they do and there's no females in the vicinity, will they be forced to roam around the neighborhood to look for females to mate with? If they don't and I can guarantee a no-female environment for them for the rest of their lives, then would it be ok if i DON'T neuter them?

The carpet is super short and rough, perfect for a scratch pad for her. When she scratches it to death, it doesn't damage it at all. If I replaced that carpet with a longer, softer, nylon carpet, would that type of carpet get torn to shreds? I don't want to pay a bunch of money for new carpet on my stairs if my cat ends up making it look yucky by scratching it to death.

all my cats are indoor cats and are vaccinated but i havent decided yet if they need to be boosted every yr if they never come into contact with other cats,my kittens just had his first set and was really depressed and sneezing with runny eyes for a good week after both doses.i know that vets and books from america advise 3yrly jabs i just dont know why its different here.i have spoken to my vet who said yes i still need to vacc them even though they are indoors but she was vague as to why.money for them perhaps?i dont min getting them vacc but if its not needed so often then why put them through it especially the ones who seem to have a reaction.opinions please!!!!
