Your kitten is too young to have flea medicine applied to it. See the articles I've posted in the Source Box.
Get a flea comb. They are very inexpensive. Comb your kitty several times a day, drowning the fleas that are caught in the comb in a bowl of water.
You can also bathe your kitten in a very mild shampoo, such as a baby shampoo. Be sure to rinse the kitten thoroughly.
And of course, bundle the kitty up in a big towel to dry it after it's bath. There may be fleas that remain on the towel, so throw the towel into a washing machine as soon as possible - using hot, soapy water.
Good luck.

For now, use a fine-toothed flea comb and drown any fleas you find in a jar of soapy water. Wash all bedding and vacuum frequently. Make sure to take the vacuum bag to the outside trash as soon as you are done - the fleas can crawl right back out of the vacuum.
The kitten should be going to the vet about now for a checkup and vaccinations. Ask the vet about recommended flea treatments. Don't use any over-the-counter products, as they are toxic and not very effective.

You can use Frontline on your kitten. (Frontline makes a kitten dose, and so does Advantage Multi) You can purchase it from your vet. It is safe for kitten starting at 6 weeks. You can go in any local vet and ask them what they have for 6 week old kittens. Not sure how much it is where ever you live but in the vet office I work in we sell it for about $20 a dose whichs last for 4 weeks. Good Luck!

There are some flea treatments which are suitable for such a young kitten but, in the UK, these are only available on prescription from the vet. I think the one we used was Stronghold for kittens which also protects against worms.
The best thing would be to contact your vet. :-)

He is old enough now to have a flea product applied. I would get either advantage or frontline because they are proven safe on kittens and work well. I would not buy hartz or sergents flea control because kitties come into my work (I work at a vet hospital) with allergic reactions to these brands. You can get advantage or frontline at the pet store, feed store or at the vet.

Uhm, typically not. Approximately eight weeks old, you say?
Kittens need their first shots and first vet-visit at 8 weeks old. Take him into the vet. Ask the vet about the fleas and what to do with them.

You need to get Frontline from your vet's office. They usually say to only apply half the application to such young kittens but you need to ask the vet's office first to make sure.
You are feeding it solid food now right?

Clip his claws FIRST. Then give him a bath with ADAMS FLEA SOAP for kittens and puppies. Clipping his claws will keep you from getting torn up while bathing him.
