8-12 weeks, the longer with the mother the better for the kittens she will teach them all they need to know to be good cats.

12 weeks would guarantee pretty good litter box habits, a good growth on the kitten's size, and they'd be eating solid food without a problem. 8 weeks can be iffy for some kittens, so I'd have to say 12.
