I used to have a cat named Mitten. She was a black and white cat with white paws. I had her when I was 9 years old and my parents decided to give her away 5 years ago.
Now living on my own with my boyfriend we are adopting a new cat. We are waiting to hear back from the shelter to find out if we have been approved for a female cat we picked. If we get to take her home we plan to name her Kaylee. She is super friendly and affectionate and the name suits her.
I've also had dogs named Duke (male), Jazzy (female) and Jojo (male).
Interesting question though. It's fun seeing all the different names people use.

I have 2 cats. 1 an Egyption Mau named Storm ( short for Mintander storm fighter) when she was a kitten she was very ill and was a storm in a tea cup, hence the name. And the other just a plain moggy, a ginger tabby named Jasper, I didn't name him but he was named after the colour of his eyes.

Ripple - he's black with dark, chocolate brown stripes and here in the UK there's a chocolate bar called Ripple made from ripples of chocolate.
Scamp - we waited until we'd had him for a few days before naming him. He's a mischievous cat, always scampering about. lol
Louis - after the character in Interview with the Vampire. He's a handsome cat with very sharp teeth.
Bailey - he was about 14 when we adopted him, and was already called that.

i have 2 cats, a black male that i called Ripley, after the character in the Alien films, as when i got him i was told he was a she and it took a long time for his "bits" to drop so by then we were used to the name and didn't want to change it! My second cat is a female, ginger and white and I called her Ruby simply because it was a "red" name lol!
