Cats knead, when they are very young, to stimulate milk production, as they are nursing. Your cat is doing this, to remind herslef of all the comfort she received from her mom, when she was a tiny kitten.

Kittens that are still nursing knead their mother to express the milk. Is the pillow plush, like a stuffed animal? Cats love that texture. Kneading is something they do when they are happy, usually accompanied by purring. It's a cat thing. Sounds like you lost a pillow!

Kittens do this with their mommy cat when they are little. It is a way to make them feel comfortable, and it reminds them of Mommy. Most cats usually lie down on top of the object after kneading it. My cat does this too. I think he likes making it more comfortable. Don't worry, It's normal.

It's called pillowing. You know how you fluff up your pillows when they go flat just to reshape to fit for comfort. It's what cat's do.

It means they are happy! They paw it like crazy and then it is ready for them to sleep on-just the way they like it.
