I need some advice on transporting an abandoned cat. I've had lots of experience with taming cats or kittens that have been dumped at my house. However, I have a little different situation now.

Someone dumped a beautiful young cat (4-5 months old) at a park that I visit (approx. 5 miles from my home). Over the last couple of months, I have had good luck feeding it & slowly gaining it's trust. (It wouldn't come within 30 feet of me at first, but now eats then lies down about 10 feet away.)

When it gets more tame (and before the weather gets cold) I'd like to take the cat to the vet & then bring it home with me.

What is the best way to accomplish this without "freaking her out" and having to start all over in the trust department??

Thanks for any & all help!

I have had my 16 year old cat,Kinka, for a long time.He was grey tiger cat,and my parents had him put down, because his eyes lost their watery glow, and he wouldn't eat or drink food.

I went to the vet with my older brother and father to have him put down.I saw him die,and I wish I hadn't.I mean, they shave part of his fur and put a needle in it.

Can anyone who knows what this is like please give me advice.

My 1 year old cat (Morrissey) is now ready to go on adult food, but we have an 11 week old kitten (Pixies) who is obviously on kitten food. The kitten food is making Morrissey put on a little weight because of the extra calories.

Keeping them separate at feeding time doesn't really work, since they eat little bits all day long!

I've tried feeding Morrissey on a high surface so Pixies can't get to his food, but he forgets where his food is or just gets down and eats Pixies' food! ;-)

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

xx Emmie

I have a 2 yr old tabby and she's always made this wierd face when she smells something stinky. She finds an interesting smell, studies it and then looks up with her mouth open a little and her touch out. Why does she do this?

WHO SAYS DECLAWING IS A BAD IDEA?

Declawing is illegal or considered inhumane in many countries around the world, including in the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Israel, Yugoslavia, Australia, New Zealand, and Brazil.

In the United States and throughout the world, many respected individuals and organizations are opposed to declawing.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (www.aspca.org):

"The ASPCA does not approve of the declawing of cats as a matter of supposed convenience to cat owners. It is form of mutilation and it does cause pain."

The Humane Society of the United States (www.hsus.org):

"It is the policy of The Humans Society of the United States (HSUS) to oppose… declawing of cats when done solely for the convenience of the owners and without benefit to the animal."

A few years ago my mom took in the cat I had fed for six months that lived in an abandoned car across the street. She had him neutered, got him his shots, and had him bathed. I could not take him in because my other cat would attack him and attack me if she even smelled him on me. A while ago I noticed he was licking himself excessively and I told mom he should go to the vet, she said no, I said I would pay for it, she said no, and she was mad at me. She went out of town a couple of days later and I took him to the vet anyway, he had his anal glands expressed and the licking stopped, I'm sure he was a happier cat. He's licking again, she's going out of town on monday and I will sneak him to the vets again. I don't feel bad to decieve my mom, I am glad to take care of this darling boy. My mom is old and grew up poor and folks back then didn't have money to spend on a pet. Please don't rag on my mom, the cat gets appropriate health care, I see to that. I know she's wrong.

MY 2 month old kitten was left home alone for the first time today while I had to go to work for 5 hours....I got home and she was limping badly so I rushed her over to the vet and he said he does not think anything is broken since she is putting some pressure on it and he said if it is still like that on MOnday then bring her back...I was planning on attending a bridal shower tonight and dont want to back out but dont want to leave her alone...should I put her in her carrier while I am gone so she has minimum movement?

Lol i do weight watchers but dont think i could make him count his points lol, so how much should i be feeding him for him to loose a little bit of weight? Thing is i got him from a cat and dog shelter a little under a year ago and when they got him he was close to death as he was starved and had been abandoned. I hate the thought of him going hungry after what he has been through and i always keep biscuits in his bowl for him to eat if he wants, am i just being silly with the not wanting him to be hungry cos of his past thing or do you think it might bring back bad memories for him of being hungry. Thanks xx

She is about four months old and I just got her spayed 3 days ago. All she has been doing is sleeping or just lying down awake, she only gets up to use her litter box and eat and drink water, then she goes right back to lying down. She has also been kneading on her blanky more than usual. It is also difficult for her to jump so she climbs instead. She has also been walking slow. I dont know if she is sad or in pain, the people at the humane society where she was spayed wouldn't give us pain meds (can I get over the counter pain meds?), and I dont know if this has anything to do with her problem, but she got internal stiches. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So I am getting a kitten from my friend today and it is PURE black. Like there is no white or anything anywhere on it. So I was wondering what some good names would be, something unique. Something BESIDES Midnight because that is really common. Whoever names the most names gets best answer and 5 stars! Thank you!

I think he does it because he gets mad when I leave. How do I make him stop? I mean, he's a cat--not a dog, so I can't exactly discipline him. He definately won't get it. He rules the world, in his mind. But I'm sick of cleaning up after him every day and it's driving me insane. How can I make him stop??
