You really need to use spell check next time. What I got out of your question is your cat has fleas and you have no money to get medicine, correct? Give her a bath and soak her in the water for a few minutes to drown the fleas. DO NOT dunk her head underwater. She will drown. After that brush her several times with a very fine tooth comb. Wash all bedding, rugs etc, vaccume, and put out some flea traps. A good flea trap is a dish of water underneath a night light. Fleas are attracted to the light, and when jumping to it they fall and drown in the water.

Does she have flies (maggots) or fleas? They're treated differently.

A warm bath with Dawn dish soap can help but you HAVE to make sure all the soap is out so rinse her under clean water three or four times.

The vet has flea drops that you put on once and it lasts for a good 2 1/2 months - even though the package says for one month -- and the single dose would be $8-$10. BUT you have to let them know the weight and age of the cat, because they have different types based on the size of the cat. It's a lot cheaper than buying the four pack at a pet supplies store.

Don't waste money on flea collars or powders, they don't do the job at all.

Why are some people being so unkind? Here we have a cat owner who is concerned about her animal and some people are more concerned with her grammar and spelling. Has it not occured to some of you that English might not be this lady's first language or she might be dyslexic? If I had to guess, I'd say she is misspelling words and using a spellchecker, which is correcting her misspellings with the wrong words.

Regarding the question about fleas, I have tried numerous household remedies on my cats with mixed success. We found that the fleas wouldn't drown in water as they jumped out again, but when we put soap in the water, it broke the surface tension and they couldn't get out so they died. Using a flea comb will take a long time, but is cheap. Any fleas you find should be put into a bowl of soapy water to kill them, or you can crush them between your nails.

To be honest, the best method I've found is the proper spot-on treatment from the vet, which will also prevent reinfestaton for up to 6 weeks. Alternatively, there is an injection which offers 3 months' protection. However, both of these might be too expensive for you.

When dealing with fleas, don't forget to treat your house and outside as well, otherwise your cat will keep having a flea problem. When your pet has a flea infestation, you have to treat all the stages of the flea's life. Only when a flea is an adult does it live on a cat as that is the time when it requires blood. The other stages (eggs, larvae and pupae) live on carpets, rugs, beddings, soft furnishings, pet bedding, in dark crevices or grass. Cheap methods to remove eggs from your home involve regular vacuuming of all carpets, beds and soft furnishings, and regular washing of pet bedding. Boric acid causes dehydration in fleas and kills them, so you can sprinkle it on carpets, leave it a while and then vacuum it up to remove the larvae and pupae. Remember that vacuuming won't kill the fleas in any stage of their development but will simply remove them. To kill them, you'll have to either put boric acid into your vacuum (this is what I do) or you can burn the vacuum bag.

You'll need to do this regularly. Killing the fleas is the easiest part, killing their eggs, larvae and pupae takes longer. If you simply deal with the fleas on your cat and ignore those in your home, then the immature fleas will simply jump onto your cat and the infestation will begin again.

Regarding fleas outdoors, I'm afraid I have no experience of dealing with those.

Good luck with getting rid of the fleas. It's a long process and you'll need to be very active with the vacuuming every day for weeks.

there are some really cheap powders that will take care of this and call the vet and get their opinion. If you can't take care of it then take it to the animal dept. so they can. Can you even get food for it?
