I apply it on the back of his neck just like I am supposed to but, he really pitches a fit as soon as he sees what I am up to. Does anybody else have this problem with the stuff?

It's possible that it irritates his skin a little bit, and it might just the be odd sticky wetness that he finds very unpleasant. That's why you have to be so careful to apply it in a place the cat can't easily lick, because they can and will try to clean the area.

We use Advantage, and my cat has never had an extreme reaction to the application, except for one time where I tried to have my friend hold her while I put it on. She probably felt unfairly outnumbered, and she howled like she's never howled before (or since) and almost scratched my friend's face when we let her go.

Now she's developed has a sixth sense for knowing when I want to apply Advantage or brush her or trim her claws. She's tucked away in a closet or something before she even knows for sure what I'm up to.

One of our four has a reaction to my putting the stuff on, like it does sting him very bad.

What you can do is hold off on the application till you see a flea. I've found that even during summer just one dose of this keeps fleas off for 2 and a half months instead of the single month like the package says. Less doses means less trouble putting them on the cat.

I used to give my cay advantage and she hated it. She would cringe for about an hour. I'm pretty sure it didn't sting her, I think she just really didn't like her neck to be wet.

no cats just know something's going to happen when you hold them down and put a tube on their neck, after, they are fine and could care less

Mine never flinches, actually I do it when he's sleeping, but he never notices, I did get it on me b4 tho and its pretty cold, maybe your giving the cat chills on its spine? Try to do it when he's relaxed and happy and he won't be bothered.
